wow that was a long one LOL, but that is cool, i enjoyed reading it. it sounds like you and I have a lot in common as far as beliefs go. it is probably good that you talk in circles because that is how i think, so it makes sense :) that is a good definition for seeker, i often say that i am in the gathering phase of my spirituality because i gather information but havent quite thouraghly studied anything yet. yeah i have been looking in the wicca books also. they do have good information, and ideas. the sybil leek book is called the complete art of witchcraft, I think, and it is like from the 60s. i like the way she thinks. i researched her a little on the net. she was a little contriversial because she thought it was ok to curse people. i havent delved into all that much yet, but i plan to find the details out about what she was doing that was considered a curse, because that is really a vague word. i just watched a discovery channel special about that lost signs book by dan brown. very interesting. ill have to check out thse other books as well. im pretty luck because there is an occult book store in mountain home, so i get a lot of things from there. if i may, when it comes to how your friends would react, what i did is test them a little. just occasionally make comments about the power of crystals, or what they think about the ability of tarot cards or psychic, or things like that and gauge their reaction. if they are accepting of those ideas you can ease in a little more if you are comfortable. if they recoil then there is your answer lol. i find that if ifocus on the similarities and not the difference when discussing it with my christian friends they are more receptive. it seems like sometimes they dont want to hear anything different frm their own beliefs though, so, you know. speaking of the masons and the eastern star, i have seen many of the symbols of both on tomb stnes around here, when investigating. at first i didnt know what they were, but my friend chris told me. his dad was a mason too. it is definitly worth learning more about. there is a masonic temple in west plains missouri, near the square i think. yeah baptists are pretty hardcore lol. my family are also baptist also. and my inlaws. my sister in law is the worst, she will lecture you on jesus and then turn right arund and do some bitchy evil thing. sometimes i am tempted to tel her that "jesus would not approve of that" but i never do. lol. where i work everyone goes to the same church, and are very devout. it is nondenominational, and seems pretty cool. they respect my beliefs for the most part, and have stopped trying to get me to come :) that sucks about your sister not being accepted. did they ever work things out, or are they still at odds? grace bubble lol. im going to use that, that is funny :) i agree, the natural aspects of paganism are for sure a draw. hell yeah, imma rock hound too. we just recently went to mount ida. if you go, be sure to go to judy's. arrow head mine is good too. we always camp at denby point because they are cheap and have hot showers. and be aware that those mountains are bear country, and if it is hot or cold mining will be uncomfortable. yeah i can see why meditation while driving could be a bad idea. i think protection bags and healing could be cnsidered spell, or somekind of magic work for sure. i have cast a couple spells. one was to attempt to release a spirit from a place that was haunted, and the other was a candlespell that wendy gave me for my birthday to gain money lol. i am not sure if the first one worked because i havent made it back to that place, but i think the money spell worked because after we paid our bills we had 300 left over where as usually we wouldnt have anything :) either way it is good. your ideas about the higher power are very similar to mine. i also believe in karma and fate. i dont believe our destinies are set in stone, i believe our free will can change them, but i think they do have a predetermined path to start with. and i completely agree about the duality of things. two sides to everything with a lot of grey in between. yes, i was born and raised in arkansas and right in the middle of the christian community. i never was able to attend church successfully because even as a little kid the churches wouldnt accept me. back then i wasnt wild or anything, i was actually good and quiet, but they just didnt accept me. one time i was going to an assembly of god church and they were laying hands on me and praying. a little old lady actually said, " oh well, you cant save them all." i was like 11 or 12 lol. i think that it was because i never really beleived what they were teaching, just never made sense to me. this does make sense to me. and how i deal with the christian community is i pick my battles, just like i do in the rest of my life. i am a very open person, and have trouble hiding anything. if any one questions me i will either answer honestly or avoid the question if it would cause more harm than good by answering. like if my daughter were to talk about it at school, the school might call dhs, so we avoid that interaction. as for other activities i like going to antique stores, thrift stores, book stores, parks, buffalo river, camping, reading, astrology, herbs, ....... i like a lot of things lol. i wire wrap the crytals we find which is fun, and have been trying to sew a little. thinking about soap and candle making. oh yeah geneology is cool too. here is my email address if you would like to email me, maybe exchanging information would be easier that way :). take care and happy halloween!!

hey amy, hows it going :) what is a seeker? i am not sure what flavor i am yet, very new. i am pretty sure wicca isnt for me really, too much structure, although i like to use some tactics and trains of thought from there. i am leaning eclectic. ive been studying since april, inspired by a book by sybil leek. it was at that point i realised i could follow what my heart had been telling me for so long without having to give up my belief in a higher power. until that point i thought you had to be athiest to practice witchcraft. and yes im out of the broom closet so to speak, i have a hard time hiding anything, it is part of my nature. you know my mom was a little resistant as well, it may help to relate the spirituality of paganism to christianity for her. it always help to point out the positives and simiarity rather than the differences to people who are not having it. i have been doing my learning through books, the interwebs:), this site is very helpful in particular, and personal research. i am fortunate because when i spoke to my friend wendy about my decision to convert she told me that she actually was doing the same thing but hadnt felt ready to talk about it yet. her mother in law is pagan, as is my sister in law and a few friends, but no one told me until i said something first. it is funny how they come out of the wood work when you talk about it. but on the other hand my decision has alienated a few people as well. I use tarot cards, study the info we have gathered, and have ceremonies. I also ghost hunt and take night pictures in cemeteries to open the connection with other entities. burn herbs and pray for enlightenment. what are some things that you do? what are your beliefs and opinions?

See if this will help you out some. There is a web page titled Arkansas Pagans (just type those two words in ) and it will be there on page go in and look around. Has some of the groups in Ar listed. Also another good source of info is Witchvox. They have a lot of good listings on there as well. There are two active groups around you. One in Conway called Werfriends-very friendly /nice folks. Pretty active group as well. Another group is nw of you in Dover/Russleville area. Enchanted moon were pretty active, but they have been a little slowed down for a while due to some personnal needs by organizer. Haven't met any of them (yet) but the ones I have comunicated with online and email have been really nice folks. Witchbox site -has listings which seem to be the most numerous for festivals, events ect. Just so you know sometimes some of groups on there fade away and you don't really know till you check them out. Hope this helps some. I have just started to learn about some of the groups and such myself over the last several months so I am sure there is a lot out there I might be missing. Hope this helps some...Matt
