GarethYour question:- 'Heroes' is correct. Should a noun end with a vowel, e.g. tomato, the plural has an 'e' before the 's' which denotes plurality - hence tomatoes. The exception to this rule are Italian nouns which have been freely adopted into the English language. These require only the 's'. Examples - soprano/sopranos, maestro/maestros. In Italian, however, the plural of these are soprani and maestri.
