Looking for a change of scenery?

Started Feb 18, 2011 0 Replies

Hey, all =)  I've been away for a few months, though I was never so prolific a poster that most will remember me.  I had pondered how to go about this and thought of creating a blog, but it seemed…Continue

Anyone going out to Sirius Rising and/or Summerfest this year?

As I was checking my packing list and testing out my gear, I wondered how many other PaganSpacers might be heading out to the festivals this year.  For those who don't know, Sirius Rising and…Continue

About Me:
I'm a spiritually diverse person and it's hard to put me in a category. Well, frankly, I'm just a diverse person overall. I'm a misfit and most often a loner. I don't do well in environments where I'm expected to forsake my personal code of honor, nor where I'm expected to tolerate exceptionally nasty behavior from others. I'm not willing to turn my back and pretend ignorance while the vulnerable of the world are victimized. I'm a walking mass of contradictions.

I'm shy, I'm bold. I'm vulnerable and I'm made of granite. I can love with great ardor and I can hate with vast passion. I can heal and I can hurt. I'm stronger than I look, I look stronger than I am. I'm wise and I'm foolish.

I honor the Sacred. I believe that there is no one, true way. I believe that each of us holds a vital piece of the great mystery and until we stop squabbling and come together, none of us will comprehend the whole of our Universe.

I'm always growing, changing, evolving, true to my Gypsy nature, so expect this to be an incomplete reflection, at best, of who I am.

I adore drumming and dancing and most of my very happiest moments in life have occurred around a good bonfire with devoted drummers playing. I am a Fire Dancer. Dance is the form by which I evince my worship of the sacred Fire.

Something that didn't even occur to me to add when I was making this: I am a high-functioning autistic. While I have figure out how to "blend" pretty well by this point in my life, this does sometimes manifest in odd ways. The point of this is that if I come across in an odd sort of way, please let me know and I'll clarify. Social graces are, sadly, not my forte'.
Favorite Books
Kushiel series by Jacqueline Carey, The Persian Boy by Mary Renault, most anything by Marion Zimmer-Bradley, dusty old historical texts, random scientific or medical studies, all sorts of randomness. I just love to read.
I truly love the power of words and the better an author is at wordsmithing, the more I will adore him or her.
Beliefs / Practices
Pagan, Other Spirituality
Other Beliefs/Practices
Irish Rroma. Ultimately, my world view is thus:
The Universe is infinite, the human mind; finite. Therefore we cannot grasp the whole of reality and creation on our own. Each of us can see one portion of the whole. If we come together and share our piece of this vast puzzle, we grow in understanding with each encounter. But if we stubbornly cling to just our piece as the one, true reality and deny the validity of everyone else's puzzle piece, we will remain ignorant and disconnected, which is tragic.
Dancing, of course! Drumming (a little, I'm a novice in this area). Listening to great drumming! Decorating my dancing clothes. Reading. Music. Spending time with my daughters. Camping. Hiking. Learning new things.
So many who have inspired me with their courage and kindness.
Jessica, my sister. Shjaway, one of the most life-changing friends I have had or ever shall. My ancestors, whose stories I still tell my daughters.

I'm back, after a fairly lengthy absence! Life has been a bit hectic. My marriage ran its course and we are both going our separate ways. This is not a bad thing. I must admit, it's been awhile since I was actually single, so this is an interesting (and sometimes baffling) new world for me.
In other news, I have some land in California now. I'm still in Ohio for the moment, but am working toward building an intentional community out west =) Kind of a Misfit Habitat ;)

Have to find myself a helper or two for Sirius Rising!

Hey, all!

I didn't want to put this out in the main forums because it just didn't seem appropriate.

Plans are coming along quite well for my vending expedition to Sirius Rising and Summerfest at Brushwood.

I'll be doing henna and a couple of other types of temporary body art up there this year. I had some folks who were going to be vending with me and could therefore handle the front area while I was working,… Continue

Culture of the Robotic or An ode to Reason

Posted on June 3, 2010 at 5:30am 0 Comments

I've been engaged, some years now, in a quest to understand the way that

humans relate to one another. It's been a very interesting and

sometimes very surprising journey. Trying to figure out how much of our

interactions are molded by the force of our surrounding culture and how

much is simply our natural state of being is confusing, to say the

least. My goal is both theoretical (in that I want to understand for

the sake of curiosity) and personal in…

I want to cut my fingers off! Or- Autism types... oh so slowly.

Some days... argh! I am always perceived as well-spoken when I post online. The dirty little secret there is that it takes me forever to make that little post! I have it on good authority that it is perfectly fine in my first, second, third and fourth drafts. However, in my paranoid mind that fears people will somehow see some misplaced word and assume I am a flaming moron, I will edit things to death, using up a substantial period of time doing so. The funny thing is that I am un-phased that… Continue

No problems! It's been a really stressful week for me too, between trying to find employment and everything else going on I haven't been able to get on here for more than a couple minutes a day. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for summerfest but it looks like if I can make it at all it'll definitely only be for the weekend, but I'll let you know what's going on so we can meet up =)
