Exploring Dark Places in the Mind

Profile Information

Relationship Status:
Astrological Sign
About Me:
Hypnotist, writer, student, seeker.

Let me be honest: I'm coming at the occult community from a strange place, that of a fairly rigorous parapsychological research. Parapsychology and parapsychological groups are fairly rare, and I have found that only the Wiccan and occult groups are much open to my interests, selective as they are in terms of the occult.

I do trance work, neuro-linguistic programming, and other, slightly more esoteric stuff. I am happy to discuss this with anyone, and anything else for that matter.

My Yahoo ID and Skype ID are both the same as my name here: Hypnoboth. I am often on line but not visible, as I am often observed.

I come to all this from a Christian background, but I promise not to impose it on anyone. Hellfire and brimstone fundamentalist I'm not.
I write, I watch too much TV.
My current supervisor at the university where I'm studying. It is not often that someone can train with and learn from one of her heros, and I have had that chance several times, this time for years. I cannot believe how fortunate I am.

Evil men and evil women

As a hypnotist, as a person, as a Pagan, I am fascinated by what causes good, ordinary people to become evil, even evil on an incredible scale. Researchers into those who administered the "Final Solution" talk about "the banality of evil." Some of the recent variations on the Stanford Prison Experiment and the Milgram Experiment show that anyone, and I mean anyone, can become evil, do evil things, torture, kill, dehumanize, degrade. I keep on investigating, looking, and trying to really believe… Continue

Riding the Wave

At times, I find my thinking takes the form of flitting from song to song, music to music. Today I saw a blog here I wanted to respond to (no, I won't say which) and I paused in my temporary hobby of scattering ribbons like confetti to find the songs going through my head. I found Harry Chapin, "Taxi", on YouTube. To my amazement, I also found the "Taxi Sequel", which I didn't know existed. It was recorded about a year prior to Chapin's death in a car accident, surely one of the worst things to… Continue

Well, the first post is always called Introduction, isn't it? My sister is a Wiccan priestess (whatever that means), but as far as religious practice is concerned, I practice pretty mainstream Christianity to the extent I practice. You know, the kind that turned most of you completely off and in many cases was accompanied by very real trauma, even abuse. That mainstream Christianity. But don't worry; I don't impose it on everyone around me. I'll keep it secret. As secret as Wiccans used to keep… Continue

OMG...Modesty Blaise...I luv those books, although it has been decades since I read them. How great to find someone who also remembers her. She was one of the first 'kick-butt' women I ever found. Thanks for reminding me.
