Greetings! I'm Jane Raeburn, Maine Pagan and author. I'm also, increasingly, someone with a disability. I'm currently writing at janeraeburn.com about the idea of planning Pagan festivals for people with multiple levels of mobility. This got started (as I explain in one of my posts) when I was invited to a certain festival and found the Web site very off-putting, using language that excluded me rather than including me. Cautiously dipping my toe back into the dating pool. I like reading, spend a lot of time on my Mac, live in Maine, own a house, root for the Red Sox. Friends say I'm warm and caring, and I'm often the one who's there to drive them home from the hospital, offer a kind word on a bad day, or use my powerful Google skills to help them solve a problem.
I'm serious about my religion (Wicca) and my politics (Democratic), but am capable of respecting those who differ from me. I love to travel in Europe and the United States, exploring museums and bookstores but taking time to relax and enjoy the view as well. History is one of my passions, particularly early America and the ancient world of the classics -- Greece, Rome and particularly the British Isles.
I'm passionate and affectionate, with red hair, green eyes, an infectious laugh and a colorful personal style. If you're allergic to cats you may wish to skip to the next person -- I have four of them.
Mysteries, historical fiction, classics, history, psychology, and books relating to Wicca and Pagan religion. I also like certain fantasy and science fiction books although not the kind where everyone's name has apostrophes and you need an org chart to keep the characters straight.
Beliefs / Practices
Have dabbled in ceremonial magic and would be interested in doing so again, in a Pagan context.
Reading, computer games, writing, travel, museums, bookstores, early music, loud Irish rock, Broadway musicals, theater, poetry.
Boadicea, Eleanor Roosevelt, my dad, all the regular people who get little recognition but do good in the world anyway.
