Many blessings to you on this day.  Those animals are lucky to have you for a guardian.  Not all are as lucky.  As you say, they do become food to for the coyotes, and whatever else that is bigger, especially kittens.  I have seen some be dumped and be torn apart by semi feral dogs that people have disposed of.  There is no need of that.  But then, some humans dispose of their kids the same way.   Where has our humanity gone?
