About Me:
I am at best a mediocre Heathen, a dabbler into hearth magic, and a explorer of all things urban. All three tie into my spiritual path to make me who I am.

"'Thou art God.' It's not a message of cheer and hope, Jubal. It's a defiance-- and an unafraid, unabashed assumption of personal responsibility." He looked sad. "But I rarely put it over, A very few, just these few here with us, our brothers, understood me and accepted the bitter along with the sweet, and stood up and drank it--groked it. The others, hundreds of thousands of others, either insisted on treating it as a prize without a contest -- a conversion -- or ignored it. No matter what I said, they insisted on thinking of God as something outside themselves. Something that yearns to take every indolent moron to His breast and comfort him. The notion that the effort has to be their own ... and that is the trouble they are in is all their own doing... is one that they can't or won't entertain." - Valentine Michael Smith, in Robert Heinlein's Stranger in a Strange Land

Of course, T and I, being the rednecks we are, sat on the front porch and watched it. We could SEE the severe storm move across the city, less than 5 blocks from us, but we barely got any fierce winds or heavy rain from it. I tried to film it, but it was just too damn dark.

Before that, I went out and did some photographs at the dam. The water level is still SO high.… Continue

Urban Explorer Spirituality

The gravel crunches under my feet as I walk down this old highway, working my way towards the looming structure in the distance. A quick jump over a chain blocking the driveway leads me down an untended dirt path that is only occasionally visited by the occasional teen looking for a good time or the occasional hunter looking to test a weapon, as is evident by the scattered shotgun shells and beer bottles.

A fence stands before me, blocking my entrance to the structure. A few swift moves and the… Continue
