About Me:: First and foremost, I define myself as a priestess. It's not just what I do; it's who I am; it's how I live my life.

In more mundane matters I'm a published non-fiction author, retired naturopath/herbalist (N.D.), historical costumer and clothing designer, mom, grandmother and aspiring novelist. Whew!

I'm Irish in just about every imaginable way (native Irish, Norman Irish, Dublin Vikings, Ulster-Scots) as well as Seminole.

I am continually amazed at the astounding ability of human beings to love.

Favorite Books: Katherine Neville, Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams, The Wind in the Willows, Winnie the Pooh, 19th-century and earlier cookbooks; The Hounds of the Morrigan by Pat O'Shea; everything by Umberto Eco, especially The Name of the Rose and Foucault's Pendulum; P.G. Wodehouse, W.B. Yeats, Calvin and Hobbes.

Other Beliefs/Practices: Old-fashioned hedgewitch, ecstatic journeying, living daily life with the immanent divine. Reiki Master.

Hobbies: Historic interpretation and pre-industrial domestic skills; organic gardening; reading; hiking/camping; playing piano, flute, folk harp; making my own perfume; brewing mead and wine; foreign languages (French and Russian mostly, with bits of Spanish, German, Hungarian, Polish, Irish, Italian...plus all the ancient languages like Latin, Greek...fascinated by Cretan Linear A)

Heroes: My maternal grandmother. My first daughter. Mother Jones. Nelson Mandela. Sargent Shriver. Vandana Shiva. Anyone who stands up for what they believe in. Anyone who has power and uses it to help people who don't have power.

Likes: A good sense of humor, kids, fresh air, quiet time, really good chocolate, garden soil under my fingernails, cats, homemade mead, Barry's Irish breakfast tea, amber (especially with silver), pre-Raphaelite art. I'm a perfume junkie. I collect soup tureens and pie birds.

Dislikes: Mean people, traffic jams, litter, egocentrists, fundamentalists of any flavor, anyone who puts stuff/money before people. Anyone who has power and abuses it or takes advantage of those with less power than them.
