Inspired by the magical and mystical aspects of existence, Magicfolk combine traditional and modern influences, creating music with a powerful, otherworldly atmosphere. Their songs range from ethereal ballads and introspective acoustic moments, to rock, psychedelia and medieval dance.
"Hugely evocative" Fireworks Magazine
The band incorporates an array of instruments including flute, violin, guitars, keyboards, bouzouki, harp, drums, with the magnetic 'fey' voice of Michelle Glover.
“Genuinely something new for fans of esoteric folk, their lyrics sing of folklore and magic, evoking the mystery within the music."Woven Wheat Whispers

“Passionate, fresh and vital” Darkroom Magazine
As a follow-up to their debut album (‘Magicfolk’ 2007), they have recently released 'Tales of Power' (Nov 2011) containing eleven melodic and timeless tracks which continue the journey into the green, mysterious, and "enchanted Kingdom of Magicfolk" (Judas Kiss Magazine). Both albums are available from their website.
In April 2012 they also released a new single called “Beltaine (Calan Mai)” - now available as a download from iTunes, Amazon, and CD Baby.
As we strive through painful cold, treacherous dark,
dodging danger, palpitating heart,
anxiety our stark true friend
Dream of this season's end in joyful meeting,
Dream loving happy family, aglow
in warming fire, festive lighted tree.
Pocket snapshot from a gentler age,
we ache to reclaim.
Raise high the revelry of feast
and frolic, space for sacred play,
miraculous day to carry like inspiring song,
a beacon through the storms
yet to rage.
Live this vision
Essence, scent memory
cinnamon, pine, family
redolent of antiquity's winds.
Rippling bells, liquid voices drip
replenishing wine. Listen.
Reverberate back to the tribal pool.
Dancing drum beats, symphonic raining rivers.
Rise and quaff the choir's song.
In ritual visualize the distant dawn.
Hearths to unseen worlds fade before Sol's majesty.
Incandescent homunculus eyes opening to flame,
krinkling sparks, glowing.
Powerful torches burn through dark imagery.
