Reflections on the Birch Moon and self-discipline

Posted on July 9, 2015 at 8:10am 0 Comments

In the pagan path I follow I am in the Birch Moon right now. (I live in the southern hemisphere which means we have our winter from June to August and our summer from December to February, which means the moons are also switched accordingly.)

Birch Moon is a time to learn self-discipline, self-authority, compassion, and self-awareness. I can’t tell you how much it sucks to have all my weak spots come up in one month!

I’m very impulsive by nature and…

Relationships: Ritual, Worship, & Reverence – Your own way or worshiping and revering various deities, etc - My way of worshipping include the use of meditation, visualization, burning incense and candles according to how they correspond to deities in my pantheon and whichever Deity I’m working with at the time. Herbs and crystals I use in the same way. My mind remains the biggest took in my practice and spirituality.

Relationships: Priesthood…

Relationships: Deity Gender Roles – Gender roles as prescribed by the mythology of your path, and your beliefs of their gender roles.

One of the things I appreciate most about Celtic culture is the equal place it gives to women. A wonderful way to learn about Celtic women is through their own legends. Granted, these stories were not written down until the Irish Celts were Christianized, but not much of the excitement and entertainment appear to have been lost by the inscribing monks.

In these myths women are queens, princesses, priestesses, prophetesses, educators, and warriors, many roles of which…

Relationships: Other Relationships – Your relationship with any beings other then Gods, such as ancestors, spirits of the land, etc.

I have always loved faeries. The faeries I believe in are not just the cute little flower faeries in children's books (although they too have their place in the grand scheme of things.) The faeries that fascinate me most are those beings which the Ancient Celts referred to as the Sidhe or the Gentry. They hardly ever inhabit children's storybooks, instead dwelling in ancient myths and legends and peopling the Heroic Romances of medieval times. They are the faery lords and ladies and they can…

Sisters of the Dark Moon

-Give beginners resources
-Help connect students to appropriate teachers
-Strengthen the Pagan political voice
-Provide an avenue for pagan networking
-Provide a meeting place for pagans
-Facilitate support groups for the pagan community's needs and desires
-Hold classes to further knowledge
-Support pagan run functions and events
-Hold public workshops, rituals, and functions

This new group is designed to help to give the pagan community more voice, more presence, and allow the people that are scattered by so many egos, paths, and issues to come together for the betterment of the community. To swallow our pride, to fight our ego, to embrace the divine in each other and use that power to have a political voice, a community service plan, and a network of so many wonderful brothers and sisters.

We invite each and every one of you to join the new group: and help me in this worthy cause.

This group is OURS. As such, we seek many. Those that can help with web sites, politics, organization, business, teaching, sites, leg work, ritual leaders, schmoozing and everything else. We embrace those that come with pure intention of making our community stronger and more united.

This is NOT for one type of pagan. We call to all that follow energy, craft magick, stylize ritual, or embrace the divine.

This group is not for judgment. We all have different tolerance, desires, beliefs, and perceptions. We must learn to accept everyone's. As Pagans we need to be able to do this because we have people looking at us to set the example..
