Seeking the Western mysteries – what, where and who

Posted on November 16, 2008 at 11:03pm 1 Comment

The nature of this article is not so much to give a detailed history of each esoteric organisation that is included, but to give a brief overview of a number of schools or magical paths that may be suited to the man or woman who is initiating him or herself during a quest for self-knowledge. If you want the full story, I’ve included useful links at the end of each sub-section. If you’ve found this article, then I’m taking it for granted that you do know how to use Google and drive a mouse.… Continue

Emotional responses

Posted on October 26, 2008 at 3:06am 1 Comment

This week I've started looking at which parts of me need work. One item on the agenda is definitely my emotional responses to situations. It's easy for people (especially my husband) to push my buttons, getting a knee-jerk reaction out of me instead of a well-considered response.

So, what do I do? When I get angry, I shut my mouth and make a concerted effort to think before I speak. I breathe. Sometimes a moment or two of silence is better.

More often than not, I realise… Continue

Intolerance

Posted on October 12, 2008 at 5:54am 0 Comments

This week's lesson for me has been about the nature of tolerance. Why is it easier for alternative folks to sit 'round a table and agree to disagree, while those subscribing to so-called "Christian" values are often on the attack, filled with self-righteous indignation that others dare to follow their own path.

I had it again in the past few days with some of the folks at work. I make no secret of the fact that I am a photographic model from time to time. I don't do it professionally… Continue

Southeaster

Posted on October 5, 2008 at 12:06pm 0 Comments

Today is officially the first day of summer. The southeaster started blowing, which means that the not-quite-so days of spring are gone. The wind is going to tear all the plants that have grown soft from our winter into rags. I can't abide the wind. It makes me maudlin, trapping me inside the house so that I want to scratch my skin off like a junk-sick crazy person.

Granted, there are those rare days when the Cape really lives up to its reputation for being one of the most beautiful… Continue

Khepera Rising, a tale of revenge, murder, demon possession and spiralling drug addiction

Posted on September 28, 2008 at 3:31am 2 Comments

I'm busy agent-hunting at the moment with my first novel, Khepera Rising. It kinda sucked me in for most of last year but, now that I've broken the seal, I am bombarded with stories, images and tales that need to be written. I am blessed with a two-hour commute every day on the train, so use this time to write. Trust me, there's plenty of dark stuff pouring out of my subconscious at the moment.

Here's a blurb for the novel, as a teaser.

What happens when discrimination… Continue

MM Nefretkheperi, I just wanted to stop by and say hello and to invite you to join my group http://www.paganspace.net/group/memorial I have set this up as a tribute to my dear friend Kym who was shot and taken from us last week. It is a sacred space on the net for us to talk to the ones we love that have passed over.
