The Little River Band, once wrote that it was "time for a cool change". I had no bloody idea that they meant temperature-wise. I lived in a little ocean-side town, in southeastern, Georgia, called Brunswick, and for a time, life was good. I had a job, two cars, a house to myself that I was contemplating buying, an up and coming acoustic band...Life was good.
Through a rather bizarre comedy of errors, all of that went to hell in a little rubber boat. My house was sold out from under me, leaving me with a roommate that I didn't want or really like for that matter. My boss' normally sunny demeanor (ha ha) got on my last nerve and the rampant drug use and alcoholism on site was wearing on me.
Don't get me wrong, I've done my fair share of drugs...when I was a kid. I've since been clean for 22 years I think, but Friday morning would roll around, we'd roll our gear out of the truck, and get to work. About 10 or so, 2/3 of the crew was wandering around with the trout look, and by the end of the day, the only one who wasn't intoxicated in some way, shape or form, was the guy driving the van with the gear in it. Me.
Mondays were fun too, because we'd have to listen to the boss scream, yell, bitch, piss and moan about how everything was messed up, and we'd spend half the day undoing what was done on Friday.
Home wasn't much better. My roommate was unemployed, so he just sat around the house smoking pot. Again, don't get me wrong, but there are times when you just don't want to deal with that kind of thing.
Did I mention that said roommate moved a drum kit into the house and on more than a few occasions, would crank the radio to near maximum volume and proceed to bang away on said drums...at 10:30 or 11:00 at night when I was trying to sleep?
Anyway, I went to visit a friend for a weekend in northwest, Georgia. I could instantly feel myself decompress, and said so. I was offered a room. I went home, packed up my things, and my dog and went, leaving some things and my van behind.
Well, that didn't work out so well (It's hard to drive 90 miles a day to go back and forth to work). So a friend said "Come on out here. See whatcha think."
I'm here, and what I think doesn't bear typing out. Arkansas has some beautiful scenery, and some nice people, but when the local "rock" station babbles on about "god bless" and some guy named Jesus...imagine my disenchantment.
I am an Odinist. I made that discovery when I was fresh out of the army and in college in 1993, and after a conversation with a young lady that lasted for weeks. It had always been there, deep inside. I just never really knew it.
Here I am, some 16 years later, still firm in my beliefs, just looking to get back in touch with myself.
I still have my dog, who keeps me sane (by driving me crazy sometimes) and helps keep me sober.
I also have the love of two very special ladies. My "Stink bait" and my "Heart". I call them these things out of the purest love that I've ever known, and even though the miles separate us, I dare anyone to try to get between us. I call her my Heart, because I think I could probably live longer without my heart, than I could without her.
It's been a long, strange trip, my love. And I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Favorite Books

Just about anything by Brian Lumley, Joseph Wambaugh, Clive Cussler, or Renee Angers. My Heart got me into Harlan Ellison's work. I've been a fan of Piers Anthony for years, and Robert L. Aspirin was a blast to read. I like good historical fiction, military fiction, the occasional true crime book, and once in a while, I like an off the wall thriller.
I'm a HUGE fan of Joseph Michael Linsner's Cry for Dawn series too.

Curling up on the couch with my lady not watching TV, the Detroit Red Wings, Asian cinema, Music. That being said, before I get into any specifics, it MUST be musical. The "C" in rap is silent. and techno makes me twitch almost like an epileptic in a grand mal seizure. Now, as is evident from my little play list, my musical tastes pretty much run the gamut from rock to country. Blues to classical and just about anywhere in between. You could even throw some opera in there and I'd like it.
I'm a musician, and playing live is one of my biggest joys. I miss it.

This list is far too long, but we'll narrow it down some:
eggs (eww...liquid chicken)
pasta (it's a texture thing)
people with the inability to think or just the lack of desire to do so rationally and logically
Most commercially accepted sports. I played hockey, lacrosse and wrestled in high school.
Cold weather
Being cold and/or wet. Make me both at the same time, and you have one VERY cranky individual.

Horror movie psychiatric advice

I've been watching a lot of DVD's lately. Mostly because where I live, I don't get T.V., but also, because there isnt anything on T.V. worth watching when I do get it.

The holiday season

Chalk it up to holiday blahs or what ever, but I really, REALLY hate this time of year.
People put on this false air of cheer and good will, while they run over three pedestrians to get to a parking space closer to the front door of Wal-Mart, get inside and shove a little old lady into a display of produce, sending apples, dentures and a bad, blue tinged wig flying, just to get into a fist fight over the last in-stock item of the latest, hottest toy.
