Many of us have joked about praying to the gods of various household objects-- offering a supplication to the god of traffic jams during rush hour, say, or the goddess of caffeine at the beginning of the day. But what happens when we hear somethin...

Merry Meet & Welcome to Pagan Space!

Profile Information

Relationship Status:
In a Relationship
Age
Old enough to have outgrown drinking binges, too young to get notices from AARP
About Me:
We're Thorn, a new quarterly magazine about paganism in the silicon age. We do our best to provide the pagan community with the rigorous intellectual discussion it deserves. Generalizations and poor research, begone!

My name's Chip-- I cut and rearrange the words of our hapless writers before sending them to the layout department. I'll do my best to run this page, but I seem to forget it for weeks at a time. Forgive me!
Website:

Favorite Books
Invisible Cities by Calvino, 1984 by Orwell, Lolita by Nabokov, The Last Temptation of Christ by Kazantzakis (weird for an editor of a pagan rag, I know-- but the writing is beautiful, and the story he tells is more compelling, with richer characters, than the one I grew up with), The Old Man and the Sea by Hemingway, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare by whats-his-face
Beliefs / Practices
Occultist, Pagan, Witch, Wiccan, Mystic, Shaman, Other Spirituality, Native American Spirituality, Heathen, Druid
Other Beliefs/Practices
My personal path is Hellenic. It is odd how the gods choose us, or we choose the gods-- I had *wanted* a connection with the Celtic gods because they seemed better at having a good time, or the Norse gods because they were-- well, for lack of a better word, badass. But you can't choose your family, and I'm finding the gods of Greece had some impressive parties and warriors of their own.
Hobbies
Writing, editing, illustrating, balding with stress
Heroes
the Silver Surfer
Likes
reliable writers, The Atlantic Monthly, red wine, old trees that crack sidewalks with their roots, potato gnocchi, thoughtful analysis, refusal to succumb to intellectual laziness
Dislikes
deadlines, InDesign, snake oil salesmen, unwillingness to examine ideas
How did you find PaganSpace?
A recommendation from Natalie. Hi, Natalie! *waves*

Testing the mic....

Heylo?

This is a difficult thing for me-- I've avoided MySpace, Facebook, and all the other implements of internet drama like the plague. Now I have this shiny newfangled profile-thing, and I can't seem to get it to work. Exhibit A: the hideous closeup of the magazine logo that's currently our profile icon. I can't seem to change it, try as I might.

Well, hello out there. Hope the internet is treating you well! Here at Thorn, we've just finished uploading the finished proofs of Issue 1 to our… Continue
