How do you work with the Court cards? I'm having trouble

I've been having a lot of trouble with the court cards since I started studying Tarot. I'm studying them more now (whereas before I was pretty much shying away from them) and writing down my thoughts, but when it comes to the actual spread I'm not sure how to read them. How do you know when the card is displaying an event, a person, or both? What are your methods? and why?I'm using the Mystic Dreamer Tarot deck.See More

About Me:
My name is Victoria. I'm just lookin' for somewhere to share my thoughts about spirituality and witchcraft and hopefully learn something from like-minded people. I don't call myself anything really but I'm fine with simply being a witch. I mostly just do my own thing without an initial doctrine. I don't follow a rede or commandments or any specialized rituals. I find it’s the only way I can learn without barriers between what I can do and what's forbidden. I love spontaneity!
I have three lovely cats: Bender Rodriguez, Sheva Alamar, and Pixie (male). I love cats and always will. I spent $40 on a very large book which is all about cats. I once had a cat named Thomas, but he died almost a year ago. He was the closest I’ve been to an animal in a very long time since we didn’t have animals for several years. I still mourn for him and sometimes feel very, very alone, but I know he will always be watching over me and I will see him again when the time comes. At the moment, Bender has done a wonderful job keeping me entertained and loved. I think Thomas sent him to me so I’m not mourning for him too much. I love my cats.
I have my own views on what created this amazing and horrible universe and that is also always changing the more I learn. I do not believe in a God or Goddess or multiple pantheons. To me, gender and personality are beyond what Creator is, but not to say that these things aren’t within it. I am a Pantheist and a Panenthiest. I think that everything we see, feel, hear, smell, are within it and of it. The phrase, “God is everything, everything is God,” works well here. But don’t be mistaken, I do not worship everyday things like rocks, clouds, sky, the moon, sun, earth, and other various things we see (or can’t see). I don’t worship anything except Creator which made and is made up of everything. I hope I am not being confusing. Describing it never gets easier, trust me.
I practice magic. I meditate. I pray. I am profoundly more spiritual than anyone else I am close to, so most of the things I practice, I had to learn by myself or from reading books. I am Dakota so obviously a lot of my heritage is mixed with my beliefs.
I believe in an afterlife and the Creator (God). I believe in spirits, ghosts, demons, extra-terrestrials, possession, psychic ability, and many other things.
Best of all I do not believe in one correct path, thank god. This one works for me. I’m hoping yours works for you as well.
