How literal does one take the Wiccan Rede?

I have just finished reading oveer the Wiccan Rede again and am working on commiting it to memory. I say this cause i was doing a lot of meditating on what it really means, and that combined with the law of three, was wondering if anyone had a thought on what happens if someone breaks into our house and tries to kill or injure us, are we allowed to defend ourselves and to what point? Some fear of mine

I am going to be honest with a lot of you having started into Wicca i now find myself afraid of making mistakes. I don't know how to overcome this problem. If anyone has experienced this same problem i am open to advice. A little more about me... time is a thing we cant have enough of isnt ? what can we do in a minute? where can we go in a minute ? what can be accompleshed in a second ?

useing seconds as morter and minutes as building blocks we can build solid relationships We can build healthy temples to hold the soul. we can help others to build character ..if we work together in love the seconds and the minutes we have to use go by swiftly but what they create will last a life time and if what you build last many life times you are a master user of the building material the creator has given you.
