they need alot of room like most animals do, but i would consider a 36" by 24" cage for times when you cant supervise them

and yes ingenious little critters! the use the litter box like no business lol, although they tend to do it in corners as this is a defense mechanism in the wild, so just have a few litter boxes all or the house or where ever and they will be fine, and they are generally inexspensive to maintain i believe their the perfect pet for anybody
