Bone Jewelry for Yule

I’ve half-heartedly asked family members if I could have some of their bones after they died. Of course, the answer I received was a resounding “NO.” A great Yule present could be a family members foot bones made into a necklace.

It seems like bone jewelry and memorabilia was a common practice in some ancient cultures and is a common practice in some contemporary cultures. Tibet is renowned for their bone jewelry today. Most of it is made from yak bones but some is still made from…

Living the Dark

This week let's celebrate the Dark of the Year.

We all know it's rediculous to be afraid of the Dark, but cultural associations with Darkness remain strong, and it seems almost natural to be uncomfortable with this time of the year..

And we'll take a look at the Dark Side of Your Moon. You know when the Dark of…

The Winter Moons

This week here on The Spiral Dance, we celebrate the Full Moons of Winter.

All the full moons have names, as you know. But during the Winter, the Dark time of the year the moon has an ever stronger effect on us.

Each of the Full Moons of December, January, February and March have different qualities. So we'll take a look at each moon's quality.

the key is the way in:

witchery puts itself out for the elements to answer back, for the sun and moon to adopt them and bring them full circle into the mysteries and it is here they are given tools to explore those mysteries and eventually make book on their being, from there it gets fun, but with all things its how high do you think your flames rise.. Place Where the Dead Speak

I went to visit an old graveyard today. Most of the graves are of people who lived and died in the 1800’s. I have been there before under the cover of darkness but never by the light of day. I wanted to read some of the headstones and see things through a sunny view. It was a beautiful day outside. High wispy clouds, plenty of sun, mild temperatures, and a slight breeze.

The dead speak in many ways. The type of headstone, graveside ornaments, care given the grave, dates and epitaphs…

Embracing the Darkness

“Hello, darkness, my old friend

I’ve come to talk with you again.” The Sound of Silence Simon & Garfunkel 1964-65

This is the darkest part of the year, and the holidays are just humankind’s feeble way of defying it, of laughing in the face of death.Everywhere on this planet during winter, whenever it may be (in the southern hemisphere, the seasons are…

Continuing story on Ghosts and activity in the Local Mall etc.

Continuation from the forum.

So anyway I went back to my hometown and (after exiting the horrendous possessed bus) I went home- again I had to REMIND everyone that the Baphomet - pentagram is /was buried behind the house. When I got off the bus- something saying it was DeVito  got off the bus with me. It felt like it was maybe laying into my body in a way like a very heavy weight or something? I kept pausing to maybe - allow it to get off? but it kept following me up the hill…

Woman Warrior

Women warriors have played a vital role in history. During the final days of the Aztec Empire women fought bravely against the Spanish Conquistadors in defense of Tenochtitlan. In Vietnam, women fought and died next to their brothers and sisters of the North Vietnamese Regular Army and the Viet Cong guerrillas of the South. Any of the women that compete in MMA could kick my butt.

The US Military opened all combat arms jobs to women in January 2016. This month, the first…

Things you can do with the tarot cards

On Samhain, the Witches New Year, a lot of Pagans read the tarot cards to see what will happen in the coming year or for specific questions they might have. There are many things you can do with the tarot cards besides just a general reading.

Every year, I do a yearly reading for each month. This year I had 3 cards as a message to pay extra attention, since I had them last year too (but in different months). Here are my messages for November 2018 to October 2019 (I used the faerie…

I once thought I was going to Live Hard and Die Young. That didn't work out! Maybe I didn't live hard enough, I don't know. But here I am, looking back at everything.

So, now what? Well, first thing, of course I DEMAND RESPECT!

But, Eldering isn't really something you are; it's something you DO. The idea around Eldering is how older people can relate and function in the world. But in order to do that at all, there has to be some understanding of how their…

A Celebration for Samhain

"Now is the Night of November Eve, as the Samhain rites begin.

Spirits step from the World Beyond, this night when the Veil is thin.

Coming through the Land of Shadows, awakening from the World of Dreams,

joining hands with the Children of Midnight as the Moonlight Lantern gleams.

Drifting in the Wind of Evening, Chanting words in an ancient tongue,

dancing light to the music of Fearies, as the Sacred Prayer is…
