mood: melancholy
Way too much chopping of mushrooms and cooking of onions in the morning today. Especially since I am pretty sure that I will be the only one actually cooking something for the "cultural feast" in class today. I should have made Kvass and been done with it. Depending on how many people actually eat this thing I may end up having to skip my second class today (tragedy) to bring home leftovers.

Oi. I wonder why I pop my nose in here at all anymore. While combing through the discussions I have seen some of the worst hypocrisy and egotistical squabbling. Usually perpetrated by the same people bitching about hypocrisy and egotistical squabbling in anther discussion.

Its almost spring, and it sure is feeling that way on many levels. This is that time of year when the frigid days of winter are still hanging on, when the darkness and cold seem never ending. I just had it brought home to me just how much weight I have lost. Since quitting smoking and starting school I have gained a whole lot of weight and I have been struggling to take it back off. I have been really doing well tracking my food and getting exercise in on a regular basis (there have been a few weeks lately that I have slacked off a bit).
I just put on a shirt that I bought in Feb. or Mar. this year--it was tight around my hips and belly when I got it so I never really put it on much…

Went to place an order for some shirts from thinkgeek today--I really want the I'm blogging this t-shirt to wear to Pittsburgh. My friend and I went shopping today (thrift store retail therapy),and I managed to get most of the shirts I should need for the fall and early part of winter. Good thing since I have lost enough weight to make a new wardrobe necessary. I found a building set for my son, and a "tea for one" set (pot and cup fit together) for me. Ok so I didn't have to work today (big surprise since business has be crappy this week) so my friend and I got together for dinner and girl time. Went to see ThouShaltNot today. They were great. The new music is wonderful, and again I was impressed with the band members. They are just nice people. I went with my best friend and she was kind enough to get me a copy of the lead singers solo album. Wonderful friend. The other bands that played were not bad--not things I would listen to on a regular basis, but not bad. The second band was definitely up there on the sexy scale. Well at least one of them was.

Got to go see the doctor today. Official diagnosis--I have allergies and a sensitivity to chlorine but my lungs are just fine. ;-P. In other words there is nothing to be done but try and avoid the chlorine. Bah. She did try to change my allergy medication because the loratadine is not cutting it. Unfortunately my insurance company is stupid and likes to make getting stuff for allergies as difficult as possible. I got my son into swimming lessons at UA--they offer a really good rate for students and I know that he loves swimming so I thought it would be a nice treat. Today was his first lesson, I was kind of nervous because he has never been in group lessons like this before and I was not sure if the instructors would be able to deal with him. We let the person in charge know that he has autism and she agreed that we could try the lessons out and see what happened.

You always hear that the first step is to admit that you have a problem. Well I admit that I am an addict. I never thought about it as a problem until last night when I couldn't get my fix in time. I tore the house up looking for the object of my desire. It took me several hours to track it down--and I was not a nice person to be around until I did.

I can think of nothing less interesting than GRE review. Honestly--the information was boring as all get out the first time around if memory serves--and time has not made it any more interesting. Its not even practical. When was the last time you had to factor outside of an academic setting? Never. Bah. I can think of several dozen things I would rather be doing, including housecleaning.
