Have you ever noticed that honor is a rare thing nowadays? I've been told a lot of things about my sence of honor, including that it's outdated (500 years outdated), too hard for anyone to hold to, utterly rediculous. But at the same time, I have a lot of people who envy how well I hold to it. (I'm not perfect, but I never claimed to be) But what I have found is the hardest part about having a very strict honor code is dealing with people who appear to have no honor code at all. I've never been… Continue

Once, there was a man who had a great reputation for being wise. People lined up at his door every morning to ask him questions, and came from miles around to ask. One day, a young man came to the town and heard about the man's reputation. He decided to get in line the next day and ask his question. When it came his turn, he went into the wise man's home and asked him "How did you get to be so wise?" The man answered, "I have no idea. All these people come in here and tell me their problems,… Continue

I was giving my cat some lovins, and she was giving me purrins, and all was good. Then she rolled over and stroked my face with velvetted paws. The only thing I can think of was that she may have been trying to pet me.

I am in a conducting class. We take turns conducting the rest of the class in various pieces of music that teach the skills we are learning. Right now, we are working on the final, a piece called "Salvation is Created". It's beautiful. A few people took their final today, and we had some time for a few people to practice it again. I went last, practicing, because I had gone first when we started and botched the piece badly.
I've been working on this piece for weeks, and it… Continue

Many people have asked me how I got started, so here's the story...
It begins, as many stories do, with a young boy with a broken heart. My great-aunt had just died, and my father had told me so bluntly... I cried for so long. Laying on my bed, eyes blurred by tears, I thought my mother had sat upon the bed and was stroking my hair. When I cleared my eyes and looked up, I saw a young boy about my age sitting on the bed. His eyes held a wisdom more profound than any I had ever seen,… Continue

I just got back from ren faire and wow! So much fun! I got a new pentacle: pewter made to look like wood, surrounded by oak leaves and acorns. I lost my old one years ago. Bloody ex-girlfriends... I also got a new sword.
Our daughter had so much fun! She played with a gypsy band while she was waiting for her hair to get braided, and she liked it so much we got her a tambourine so that she could play in the drum circle with us. She played her tambourine and danced and everyone… Continue

Every once in a while, something takes me by complete suprise. Yesterday, I was talking with one of my Christian schoolmates, a woman whom I have spoken to only a few times, said something that took me aback: "...that once-born gets on my nerves." I had never heard a Christian, or for that matter, a non-pagan, use that term, especially so derisively. And to top it off, I have no doubt that she was right about this man. His eyes were shallow and cold, which seems to be a common issue with… Continue

I have begun a project in class. A professional style psychology research project. How do humans react to natural sounds like insect song. Many studies have been done on how we react to music, but recently I heard some very powerful reactions to hearing insect song and I wanted to test it out. I'm using an anxiety scale for the results. I'll let y'all know how it's going as it progresses, but right now I'm trying to gather research in a field where there has been nothing done! If anyone knows… Continue

You know what gets to me? Pagans who are either evangelical or intollerant. I've never understood the need to try to convert someone to a different path, and all it does is drive most people away. More common from what I've seen, though, are the intollerant ones. Those of us who cannot stand Christians and will actually dump trusted friends if it is discovered late! It seems like we should be setting a positive example, espcailly considering the Craft is not exactly mainstream, rather than… Continue

Hello everyone, and Merry Meet! I'm glad I've found this place. I do hope I can find some people on here to talk to, as I'm always looking for the next step in my path. I combine a gloriously confused mix of Hebrew mysticism, Erisian Discordianism, Native American shamanism and kitchen witch earthiness. I'm glad to meet you all and to have someplace to rant.
