Rest in Peace My Dear Momma Kitty

I lost my dear Momma Kitty this morning. She was Coco's mom. She was a special stray cat meant to bring me joy. She arrived when she had Coco's litter on my roof. We became very close and she was always sleeping by my side. Coco on one side and her on the other. Over the last year, she has become frail and thin. She always had energy though and bounced down the hallway and ate r… Continue

R.I.P. My Dear Sweet Coco 1995-2009

My dear kitty Coco left us on Sunday. She knew. She didn't want to go to the dr. and be in unfamiliar surroundings when she left. She timed it perfectly. I had been telling her; through all her crying on Sunday; that she could go now. It was so hard to watch. I just held her… Continue

A Sweet Poem for our Dear Departed Kitties

I have a very sick kitty and unfortunately am going to have to put her to rest on Monday. This has been killing me. Here is a poem a dear friend sent to me to try to make it easier for me to cope. It touched my heart and I wanted to share. And God asked the feline spirit Are you ready… Continue

Terminate Arnold!

Once again, state workers are having to 'help' balance California's deficit. I am sick of it. I am sick and tired of all the times we have had to do this. Now it's the worst ever at a 10 percent monthly pay cut by furloughing us 2 days a month beginning in February. He is also laying off 20 percent of state employees. It's a double whammy for us as we will also have to pay the tax increases that he is imposing on everyone else. Is this fair???? This is lining up more foreclosures, more loss of j… Continue

Ghost in the Bathroom at Work!!

I was washing my hands and I heard a huge bang behind me. I turned around to look and as I did, the handicapped stall door swung out about 3/4s of the way and slammed shut. Same noise I had heard when I was facing the sink. So it did it twice! I thought, maybe someone walked right by me and into the stall so I looked under it to see if I saw any feet. No feet. There is no way I would have been able to miss anyone coming in anyway. It slammed louder then it would of normally. It was forcefully sl… Continue

My Son's First House

My son and his sweetie have just bought their first home. After looking at dozens of houses, they finally chose one. There was no way they would have been able to buy one without it being a foreclosure. Unfortunately, someone had to lose something in order for them to gain. That's the sad part. This house was not foreclosed though, because of the housing problems. In the winter of 2005, we had a torrential downpour and it rained hard for 5 straight hours. Probably doesn't seem like much to some,… Continue

It Doesn't Change

When our children are young, we worry. We worry that they won't have everything they need. We worry they will get cuts and bruises. We worry about their relationships because we don't want them hurt in any way. It's true, our children are really only loaned to us so we can raise them the best we can and give them good values. But it really doesn't stop there. My boys were my life. Times were hard. I was a single parent for most of their childhood. It sure was a struggle. They have turned out to… Continue

I Believe...

I Believe... That just because two people argue, it doesn't mean they don't love each other. And just because they don't argue, it doesn't mean they do love each other. I Believe... That we don't have to change friends if we understand that friends change. I Believe... That no matter how good a friend is, they're going to hurt you every once in a while and you must forgive them for that. I Believe... That true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. Same goes for true lo… Continue

Life's Ups and Downs

When my kids were young, I always thought that once I'd raised them, things would be simpler. Well, as they grow up and mature, as most of you know, there are alot of ups and downs. I was single for most of their childhood so I'm very pleased at how they have turned out. It doesn't get easier when they get older. It gets harder! The problems are bigger! Why didn't someone warn me? I've known this for a long time, but still reel from it. Now things are good. It also seems like we 'go through' the… Continue

Affirmation of Scorpio

I was born under the sign of Scorpio and I fully accept all its power, potential, and gifts. I am one of the most mysterious and powerful members of the zodiac for I am the Transformer, I am the Regenerator, I am the Keeper of Mysteries, I am the Mystic. I soar above like an eagle. I see with the Eye of the Mystic Eagle the power of transformation at work in ordinary reality. I see deeper realities. I get under the skin of things. I probe the psyche, noticing everything. Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Team in Training

Earlier in the year, I posted a blog about my son's fiancee and her training for an upcoming ride. She just completed her ride. She rode from Seattle to Portland (over 200 miles). Last year she rode over 200 miles in Hawaii. Next year...who knows. I am very, very proud of all her hard work and ambition. Last year she rose over $4,000 and this year over $2… Continue

Life's Choices

The Empty Hook By Anne Carter My parents shared a love of the outdoors, especially fishing. We lived in New York City, and opportunities to pursue these passions were few. When I was ten years old, my father decided we would spend part of our summer on the eastern end of Long… Continue

Bittersweet

I remember many years ago...I believe I was about 20; my mom called me at work and told me she was so dizzy and felt so sick and could not walk. I left my office, picked her up and took her to the emergency room. that was when it started. For years, doctors could not figure out what was happening to her. she'd have good days and bad days. She was so young. This… Continue

A Time for Reflection

One day someone's mother died. And on that clear, cold morning, in the warmth of her bedroom, the child was struck with the pain of learning that sometimes there isn't any more. No more hugs, no more lucky moments to celebrate together, no more phone calls just to chat, No more "just one minute." Sometimes, what we care about the most goes away. never to return before we
