Every once in a while, something takes me by complete suprise. Yesterday, I was talking with one of my Christian schoolmates, a woman whom I have spoken to only a few times, said something that took me aback: "...that once-born gets on my nerves." I had never heard a Christian, or for that matter, a non-pagan, use that term, especially so derisively. And to top it off, I have no doubt that she was right about this man. His eyes were shallow and cold, which seems to be a common issue with once-born people, and much less so with those who have lived even one previous lifetime.
I couldn't say anything for a long time, but I finally delt with the shock and asked her what she meant by that. She explained the concept perfectly.
This is actually not the first strange experiance I've had with occult Christians in the last week. Friday last, I was reading Dan Brown's Angels and Demons while waiting for my daughter to get out of school. The older woman who was sitting next to me asked what I was reading, and when I showed her the title (the author was not obvious) she said "I see those." This kind of honesty, especially in a small, conservative town, can get you lynched, or near to it, if said to the wrong person. We had a fairly long discussion on celestial beings and their activities and purposes, and I was impressed with her knowledge. Most Christians I meet aren't aware that Michael is not an Archangel, but a Seraphim, which seems a pretty basic concept. I suppose one can never tell what kinds of interesting things one will learn if one sits still long enough. If anything else comes up later, I'll tell y'all about it.
