All Beliefs are Welcome Here!

So, I've been wondering a lot about covens. I've heard some really wonderful things about them and also some very scary stories. So how do you find a coven? what are they really about? I would love to be surrounded by people who are also on the path, but in my area they are hard to find? Are there like online covens? If anyone has any input on the topic please message me. I've very eager to learn.

You can go to witchvox to find out if there are covens in your area.

I am weary of any group in general. I did do a meditation with the high priestess of my college and an occasional holiday ritual. It wasn't a coven though. I don't trust groups because I don't want to align myself with others beliefs, and sacrifice my own. Group dynamic is easily dangerous.

I'm thinking about Spooky's observation about "my way or the highway".  There's some truth to that, but the thing is that in order for the coven to form a group mind there does need to be some  (a lot) of uniformity in thought and practice in order to achieve a group mind.  The group pretty much has to be going in one direction, and that has to be decided by consensus or by the group leader(s).  But, that should be laid out for you and explained before you join the coven.  Not every coven is a democracy.  If you just can't jive with the group energy, then vote with your feet.

That said, some groups are flexible and eclectic, and somehow manage to mesh their energies just fine - or it's a bloody mess.

Either type has its advantages and pitfalls, and that's one reason many covens have an Outer Court or a trial period to get to know each other.  Like dating.

Internet covens?  I know they're around, but the intimacy and magical energy of a face to face coven where you raise power together and SEE and HEAR each other just can't be duplicated.  There can be online study groups that work out great, but IMHO a coven is a different animal entirely.  The magical operation of a coven need to have energy that's up close and personal, and monitored bya group leader who knows what they're doing.

online covens arent nearly the same as the ones in real life. the stories you have heard about covens, well it depends upon the coven and what theyre doing and working with. ask questions, and pay attention to what your intuition is telling you. ive been in a really interesting one, or weird depending upon your take on it. we knew eachother in real life and would meet internally to practice magic together, then later we would run into eachother in "normal life" and everyone knew what we had done.
