That's a shame but usually a lease is pretty clear on a pet policy and deposit if they are allowed, if the place is in both of your names then you would have both had to of agreed on the lease before moving in.

Landlords can be very strict with pet policies for obvious reasons of destruction and issues as you had with the one cat who was using the bathroom on the rug. I owned a corporate housing company years ago and dealt with pet policies frequently.

The smell of cat urine can be very hard to get rid of if it's soaks into the padding and often times, landlords have to re-pad and carpet the unit if it goes unchecked. If there was a no pet policy in the lease then unfortunately, it should have been looked into prior to making a commitment on taking in the cats. If he said it was ok, then you should have gotten that in writing before taking in the cats but one thing that does confuse me is that something must have occurred for him to agree with it and then change his mind. Possibly the outdoor cat could be seen as problematic as well by your neighbors and most cities/towns have ordinances about pets not being leashed as well.

as for the cat using the rug he didnt know and i started putting her outside the day i found out and shes stayed outside so no harm dont to carpet as for the smell i know how to get rid of it as i used to do it with my mom when i was a kid as for him telling us the cats will destroy the carpet we r replacing it as per the agrememt when we move hes charging us 50 $s a month for a year to pay for it already so as for the damage y should he b so concerned ?

I'm confused, why is your landlord charging you for your carpet before you move out? Was it destroyed after you moved in? The reason I ask is because you cannot charge someone for destruction that hasn't occurred. You can charge a deposit to safeguard the dwelling and use it in case of destruction, you can also charge more for a pet, as well landlords can deny certain pets but it just sounds odd that you're already paying for destroyed carpet... I don't know. I also did bring up the possibility that the outdoor cat could be an issue for neighbors as technically pets (especially rescued pets from a shelter) are not supposed to be allowed to roam free because of the dangers to the pet and if by chance you're feeding the cat outside then there could be a further issue with the food attracting other cats or animals onto your property. I guess the bottom line is that when he approved them it should have been put in writing, although a landlord can still likely revoke that part of the lease if they feel they are potentially destroying the property or are a nuisance.

I wish you well with this and hopefully you can find a resolve.

like i said its all a religon thing the landlord is a southern baptist and i am wiccan as he sees it im the devil to him i could care less what he thinks hes just trying to get us to move out without making it a leagel thing and breaking the law and we did have it in writing for the pets but as the law stats the lease can be changed as long as both partiys agree and sign new contract and seeing as how husband agreed without reading it im shit out of luck ne ways its a moot point and yes my son spilt red juice on the carpet but even than that is what the securtiy deposit is for which i believe he is just trying to get more money out of us as i told him i was going to replace the carpet when i move if i cant get the red out like i said he just dont like me

Get a can of Spot Shot for the carpet and try that, it works miracles, I use it anytime I get a tough carpet stain here's a link to it at Wal-Mart

ohhh i used to clean carpets profesionaly so i have no doubt that i can get the red out heck i even know how to get the smell of cat urin out of a carpet so thats no big deal its gonna be funny when we move and he has to refund us the money for the carpet lmao if the landlord thiks hes mad now just wate till i ask for the carpet money back hes charging us on top of the security deposit and the rent cause thats what the security deposit was or ne ways so when i get the red out and move and ask for not only my security deposit back but the extra carpet money he had us pay hes gonna b pissed
