"Truth is One, but the sages speak of it by many names"
- The Rig Veda
I love this quote, as it is very near to my own theories when it comes to the many religions of the world. It is as if we are all looking for the truth, but each of us can only see one small element of the big picture. And so we have a thousand and one interpretations of that truth, but really, it is in their overlap where we may glimpse the truth.
As a result of this theory, I have spent the last 7 years of my life jumping from religion to religion. Exploring, questioning, trying things out. I'm looking for overlaps. I'm looking for details which resound within me as some part of the great truth. I sometimes refer to religion as my hobby, and it's like that. But in another sense, it is more my career.
And so, with this quote, one encounter, and a very few word-of-mouth facts, I turn now towards Hinduism. Let's see what truths they hold.
P.S. the closest i have ever come to truly converting to any one religion is paganism. but even there, i cannot get to specific. still, i am glad to be able to call this a sort of home base for my spiritual explorations.
