Full Moon thoughts

So - Saturday night will bring us the brightest full moon of the year, as the moon passes closer than usual to the earth. I don't know about anyone else, but it's already been keeping me awake the past few nights with its incredible brightness. What better time to have a look at the Full Moon card from my oracle deck?

Full Moon - Something reaches an apex. Time to celebrate and reckon the harvest. Give in to the pull of the tides rather than fight them!

A few weeks ago, this card came up in a reading I did for someone, so part of this post is a re-working of what I wrote to her.

The Full Moon refers to a time of power. In some way, time stands still, hovers in a balance as the tides rise before waning. What does it mean to reckon the harvest? Perhaps a general stock taking of assets, and of counting your blessings. Actually, I hate that phrase. It's not that I am ungrateful, but I don't like being told to do this, and it can sound so self-righteous! That's why I like the idea of "reckoning the harvest and celebrating". Whatever you have that you're thankful for, flaunt it, dance with it, howl with joy because it's yours! The full moon is a time of emotion and passion for most of us. Let 'er rip!

If it feels appropriate, maybe you'd like to do some kind of personal ritual or celebration to honour the full moon.There are many ways to do this - some belong to specific traditions, others are very personal. May I suggest that you include the following thoughts. Take stock of what you have gained or achieved recently.Also take a few moments to consider what might be at its peak right now in your life. Seize this moment of power, feel how real it is and think about whether you would like to make any further use of this power now, before it becomes weaker. Next, acknowledge that things are likely to change.The things which are now reaching an apex in your life, are likely to have less importance before long. Take a moment to consider this, to be grateful for that which you have received, for the power that lies within the completion of things. Remember that it is now time, once again, to allow change to come, to let go of all which is ready to pass from you, or to become less central in your life for the time being, and look forward to a period of rest and quiet, to prepare yourself for the next round of adventures and endeavours.  For in the bigger picture of your life, there will be many times of power, and many wanings.
