Have you ever considered living in a tiny home?

Over the last year, I have been weighing the pros and cons on owning my own home. There are several freedoms about it but there are also alot of responsibilities that go along with owning a regular size home.

Most of us here have families but for those of us who are single and like doing things our own way, I started seeing these clips of people who have downsized and decided to live in these tiny 130 square ft homes that are usually on wheels. I actually have taken interest in these as the cost can be as low as $1600.00 up to $25,000.00 and can be pulled just like an ordinary camper trailer but they look more like a small cabin.

Here is a link to the most recent one I ahve read about where the lady built hers from a kit that she purchased for $1600.00 and there are alot of others who have opted for that kind of lifestyle which really is more eco friendly.

I have pretty much decided that living this way would be a great way to live since I am single so it would just be myself and my cat and cheaper to live by far.

I love the idea. When I stop working me and my wife are going to build one and live there till the clock runs out.

Either that or a Yurt.

The last few years I have spent in tiny living spaces and it isnt so bad, but if I had a little more space I could bring my drawing table out of storage and into my room...it is a good thing I can draw any where.  I have also live in a 14ft by 70ft trailer and I really did like it I just didnt like the area.

The little cabin like trailer sounds really nice and kind of perfect.

There are alot of tiny home videos on youtube that you can look at which gives you ideas on how others have designed their tiny homes.

In time I will have My own I know that .

We (our non-profit) build small homes for "rentals."  These "rentals" are for women coming from an abusive relationship. They are two and three bedroom homes and are from 780 sq. feet to 850 sq. feet. The ladies and their children can live in a home for up to two years, either for free or next to free. They are very compact, but very livable. Most at first sight say, aw isn't it cute and then, it's so small, but after a few months they just rave about how wonderful they are. They say such things as, it takes like two minutes to clean, it's so organized and after all the craziness of the last few years it feels good to be organized, it's so cheap to heat/cool, I love the porch and deck, it's the new center of our family. We build them eco friendly and green construction with a garden spot and small chicken coop. The ladies just love them.

i've been living a tiny house lifestyle off and on since 1988.  whether it's been a tiny travel trailer, a beach shack, even for a short while a tent, i've learned so much about simplifying my life with personal space/shared space and what is required to thrive.  i now live in a studio, about 200 sq ft and rent my larger house (under 500sq ft) to my brother.  but my "retirement" dream is to build a tiny cob/container house, a sort of a mini earthship style dwelling that could be my final home. to facilitate this i'm now working on expanding my building and rehabbing skills and plan to make a semi-enclosed patio/green house incorporating cob...should be an adventure in living "content with small."
