HOW TO MAKE A WITCH BALL~~~~

Witch Balls were very popular in 18th century England, but their actual origin is thought to be much older. For well over 300 years hollow glass spheres have been hung in windows to ward off witch’s spells, evil spirits and ill fortune. Hanging these decorative balls in the window is thought to tantalize evil spirits which may be threatening a home’s tranquility. The evil spirit is mesmerized by the ball’s reflective beauty. When the spirit touches the sphere it is absorbed and trapped in the web-like strands inside the ball. Christmas time is a great time to find clear plastic balls. I prefer plastic due to the weight and possibility of breakage with pets and grandchildren. Glass may be used.

Supplies:

1 Red taper candle
1 Clear ball ornament that has a cap you can pull off (at craft stores year round)
Red string
Silver paint (available at craft stores)
Frankincense or Patchouli

Protective herbs if you so desire, I didn’t in mine.

Take the cap off of the ornament. Put silver paint in the ornament and swish it around until it looks like you want it. I even rolled mine around on the table for a more swished look. I would suggest letting it dry sitting upside down so the paint don’t all run to the bottom and then dry into a glob. Then put it aside and let it dry.

After the paint is dry (this varies depending on the paint and how thick you coated it. You may wish to leave it overnight if you have the time), take the red string and cut it into strips that are 3-inches in length, and fill the ball up with the strips until it is full.

Put a few drops of oil in it. You can add protective herbs also if you’d like.

When finished, cap off the ball with the cap it came with, or close it off with the candle wax.

Lastly visualize protective energy filling the ball and recite with intent:

"Symbol of the moon, symbol of the lady divine, Reject all negativity, defend this home, me and mine!"

Using some more of the red string, you may hang the ball in a window, or even on a wreath on the door.

Enjoy!

"The evil spirit is mesmerized by the balls reflective beauty."

This is very true.
