Another day is winding down, I'm sitting on the bench thinking about the garden chores for tomorrow. What do I see from the corner of my eye, but the neighbor's chickens pecking their way into my yard. Scratching and scraping away at the grass and mulch under the trees looking for a tasty bite of bug. Two black laying hens have wandered over from their own territory to explore new lands in the hopes of a better meal. Hello girls, I say waving a hand at them. One does seem to acknowledge me as she lets out a gutteral cluck or two almost as if she was asking permission to peck around. Not a moment later, I see a small flock of gray birds land in the neighbor's yard. They seem to be doing what
the chickens are doing, looking for a quick meal. The gray birds werent there for more than 20 seconds before the two black hens stopped cold, looked at each other, then ran back across the road that seperated me from the neighbors, back to their own yard with tail feathers shaking! Each chicken charged after a bird until all of them flew away. The girls seemed happy with their accomplishment of chasing away their feathered foes and regaining their original feeding grounds. I contemplated the audubon moment and started to chuckle. Yes, it finally came to my attention just why the chicken crossed the road. Why?, because the grasshoppers are greener on the other side..bwraach, bwraaach, bwraaaach

I live amongst the French and the other day one of my neighbors came down the lane.
They said, "Bon matin Ritalin Lapin, tu bon?"
I replied, "Oui mon ami, I am well enough. How are things with you Hieronim?"
The very best my friend. I wonder, may i have an egg from your fine coop?'
I was surprised but said of course. Then I asked,
"Only one egg, old chap?",
to which he replied "Yes, one egg is "oeuf"!"
