Alright, so I've been away from public involvement for awhile. OK, quite a while. Whatever, it doesn't matter except that it's really disconcerting when the first news I get from the webosphere is that one of my favorite websites, Peter Paddon's Crooked Path podcast, is about to fall victim to another round of silly "witch wars". As me mum would often utter at such annoyance, "Bloody hell!"

As some of you well know, ever since the crossing of Evan John Jones there has been a certain amount of discord among the Clan of Tubal Cain community which invariably seems to get aired publicly. To me, it's every bit as unbecoming as when family disputes get dragged into the tabloids. Where is the honor in public hyperbole and sensationalism?

I am not a member of any of the branches of the storied Clan, although the writings of Roy Bowers and Evan John Jones had a significant influence on me in my misspent youth. The closest I've ever been to CTC was through my friendship and affinity with the 1734 community, which shares much with CTC through the Bowers/EJJ connection. While not formally corded to 1734, my own Mountain Ash Grove family is very similar in many respects. One of this life's great disappointments is never having had a chance to share a bottle with Joe Wilson.

Along my own very crooked path, I've made many friends and acquaintances around the world, some of them publicly recognized either as actual or imagined leaders of some rather well-know paths and traditions, or as published authorities on the Hidden Arts. I'm not a name dropper, but some of the principal players in this charade are know to me at least by direct correspondence if not meeting personally. I value all of my friendships, and always strive to stay away from the foibles of mundane politics and intrigue.

What I'm getting at in my own convoluted way is that I'm shocked and saddened that the most recent round of Tom Foolery is impacting someone I greatly admire, namely Peter, and an institution I've always thought very highly of, his Crooked Path podcast.

Isn't there some way the Clan's internecine squabbles be kept sub rosa, to the general peace and contentment of the pagan community as a whole?
