You know, one thing that has come from my work with paganism has been my change in attitude towards insects and spiders. They used to TERRIFY me, and would factor into many irrational nightmares, but since I've started cultivating a connection with the natural world, I've found insects to be the source of some of my most powerful experiences (omens, inspiration, etc.).
I can see why the Ancient Egyptians venerated the scarab beetle alongside powerful animal archetypes like lions and falcons. There's a lot of good stuff to be found in this important aspect of the natural world that many people tend to avoid.
So next time you see a bee spreading life as it buzzes from flower to flower, or a dragonfly protecting you from harmful pests, take a moment to appreciate these hard-working (and important) aspects of Nature.
And then, the next time you see something unpleasant like bed bugs or hornets, take away lessons such as the dangers of encroaching on the natural world to the point where nature gets twisted as it changes its nature to adapt to an urban landscape (bed bugs, fleas, lice, etc.) and also the dangers of unchecked aggression and violence (hornets, wasps, yellow jackets, etc.)
So yeah, my thanks to the Divine for helping me move past my fear and helping me turn it into a source of strength.
Blessed Be and Senebty!
