I left Facebook over a year ago due to privacy concerns. At the time I had a large network of people I had never met, but knew quite a bit about and had grown close to. I missed the daily updating, but didn't missed the 2nd life at the expense of RL. I have been part of Pagan Space for a while as well, but given my misgivings about Myspace and Facebook, I was hesitant to entrench in another online community. I use Pagan Space as a surfer quite a bit, but don't announce my online presence in the way my profile allows. Recently, the announcement that Pagan Space would be given to members challenged me to become the type of members that others know--not just the type of member that gets their own needs to be near like-minded people satisfied. I see nothing wrong with members that need to do just that, be near something comforting and known without intense integration and action. Sometimes that's what someone needs from community, and their passive behavior contributes in a very special way. However, a community also needs active members to thrive, and I want to help Pagan Space thrive in its new endeavor. Its nice to have an extended family who understands and supports your spirituality.
