While out exploring this hot Spring day, I strolled down a new path in the woods I found along the way. It was quiet and peaceful with Nature all about. Soon my path was blocked by Mr. Copperhead. He is an ornery old fellow with a nasty bite. In his case his bite is worse than his bark because he has no bark. He doesn’t even have a rattle to shake. Well Mr. Copperhead just looked up at me without much of a care. It was evident all he meant to do was stare. So, I grabbed some berries from a nearby tree and threw a few his way to shoo him off the path. His answer to this gesture was to get into striking position, so much for diplomacy. I went back up the path to a long dead tree and broke off a nice long branch which I made into a long-forked stick. Now we’ll see whose path this is. On my return Mr. Copperhead was still blocking my way, but he was no longer in the striking position. I nudged him slightly with my new stick toy, which he immediately took exception to and struck out in anger, but still he would not get out of my way. I guess he felt this was his path and he was here to stay. This rude newcomer was not going to persuade him in anyway. With that I gave out a sigh and lifted him with my long-forked stick and tossed him in the bushes on the side of the path. That was enough brabble for one day.

Spare a thought for those that meet Mr Adder/Viper on a beach with nowhere to back off, or anything to `guide` him elsewhere!

On a beach in Borth, N Wales a couple of years ago, enjoying the sea and sand.

Great place to relax, sadly the sand dunes are full of the things during late Spring and summer, always some fool who thinks its cool to try and pick one up by the tail and gets bitten.

Some people want to be Steve Irwin. Here Steve is pictured holding a rattle snake.

If you pretended that the Copperhead represented the King of the Wood, would you necessarily be wrong?

Enigma, Irwin had a death wish and found his Nemesis, I have a friend who keeps rattlers as a hobby and breeds them in the States, couldnt do that the worry of a bite would be too great.

Marion, Mr. Copperhead has my respect.

Who?, Steve Irwin used up all his tickets on this ride.
