While out exploring this hot Spring day, I strolled down a new path in the woods I found along the way. It was quiet and peaceful with Nature all about. Soon my path was blocked by Mr. Copperhead. He is an ornery old fellow with a nasty bite. In his case his bite is worse than his bark because he has no bark. He doesn’t even have a rattle to shake. Well Mr. Copperhead just looked up at me without much of a care. It was evident all he meant to do was stare. So, I grabbed some berries from a nearby tree and threw a few his way to shoo him off the path. His answer to this gesture was to get into striking position, so much for diplomacy. I went back up the path to a long dead tree and broke off a nice long branch which I made into a long-forked stick. Now we’ll see whose path this is. On my return Mr. Copperhead was still blocking my way, but he was no longer in the striking position. I nudged him slightly with my new stick toy, which he immediately took exception to and struck out in anger, but still he would not get out of my way. I guess he felt this was his path and he was here to stay. This rude newcomer was not going to persuade him in anyway. With that I gave out a sigh and lifted him with my long-forked stick and tossed him in the bushes on the side of the path. That was enough brabble for one day.
