My Response to The Advertising Rant UPDATED Again :)

Regarding the experimental advertising I'm trying out:

I'm pretty confident most would rather me attempt to try different options to see what works best (advertising wise) than charge a fee for people to be a member here (turn it into a pay site). I'm sorry you don't like it but if it's causing anyone distress then I truly hope you find an alternative site that gives you everything that you want. I could go on but I've already stated my thoughts on this word-tired for the past few days..

And an update: A supportive member placed up a very kind forum posting in support of what it takes to run this site, the posting was of course well on its way by a few to turning into a means to gripe about the ads (although the meaning behind the post was very kind and much appreciated)

Thanks so much for your understanding and support Isidorus! Whether people like it or not experimenting with what works best is what I have to do right now in order to assert what works best. I appreciate all the support I get from those who understand that this site is very time intensive (40+ hours a week) and it's also costly as well and the support from those who understand that the site is free for members yet, not free for me. I truly appreciate your post!

To address a few other things I've read in this discussion: If some cannot understand that this site is not by a long stretch of the imagination free for me, not in time nor expense and if someone truly doesn't like the experience here then no one is forcing anyone to stay.

I give everyone their say but this has already been covered numerous times, until I find the best fit for alternative ads, I will continue to explore the options, which I have a right to do since I pay all the expenses for the site every month and invest countless hours into it as well. If anyone finds that "unfair" of their free experience here then I welcome you to start your own site and make it how ever you wish to have it so you will be happy with your online experience and I mean that sincerely.

I will be closing this thread as it will only turn into what it was not intended to be, though I sincerely appreciate the kindness that went into it's creation :)

To Ada & Yarom > Last night, I went through all the ads being served over 400 and disabled them all and changed it to approval only. You see, I cannot know what something does until it's running, does that make sense to you? I hope so because I'm growing very tired of your constant attempts to stir issues. YES, there are ads, YES, they will remain and UNLESS I try something out I will NOT know how they interact on the site. Make sense? I really hope so. I closed your thread as it was nothing more than you attempting to drag the ad issue into the forum so people would start going off about it (I'm really not naive to motives I assure you), I asked you to submit a report (like everyone else has to do) and I went in and addressed the issue (see info above no need to be redundant). I'm probably on this site more than anyone and I assure you I don't want to deal with noisy, dumb ads anymore than the next person. I closed your thread because IT WAS BEING taken care of. I'm going to be very blunt here, if you don't like the site then go to one you do like, it's a very simple solution.

You have a right to complain or whatever you wish to do by submitting an issue report like everyone else has to, and it was addressed and fixed. The rest of your "complaint" was addressed in my earlier reply no need to be redundant :)

If someone doesn't like it here then they can easily hit the exit door. I think I'm very fair in addressing issues and concerns but I will not tolerate a bunch of underhandedness at stirring up issues, this isn't junior high school although on some days it certainly feels that way...lol

You have stated over and over again for the last two moths that my behavior and postings are disruptive . Please feel free to let me know what exactly these issues are . I have said nothing directly with the exception of comments to a blog and a closed discussion of the disruptive ad's . You have accused me of trolling people and several other actives from a sideways fashion with out ever directly stating the problems . You have been given several means in which to contact me if you so choose and I have heard nothing except for loosely biased accusations posted in public forums .

After 3 years of enjoying Pagan Space and rarely hearing from you I am very puzzled on what issues you have with me directly , I feel I have given you ample means of contacting me to correct any of them of which I am very curious to what they are .

Comment by Karen Black on August 6, 2011 at 6:33am: This site has always had adverts in the time that I have been a member. They were restricted in both the location and to content, mainly pagan-related goods and services. I expect that on a pagan site.
I think the problem the other day was that suddenly adds popped up on members pages and within blogs, discussions etc. and had nothing to do with being pagan. I'm sure that members feel they "own" what they write and this sudden shower of adds somehow violated their property.
Today that problem has been addressed. I have known other ning sites to disappear because of ning charging more so I can see the need for exploring ways for this site to generate some income. I expect there will be a few "teething troubles" along the way.
Thank you Starrfire for doing your best in running this site and putting up with our gripes.
I'm off now to play with the other children, I promise not to hit the smaller boys or drown the bigger ones in the pond.
