It is no surprise that my totem is a Cu. My entire life I have had canines. Never had a fear of any dog or wolf other than my caution around pit bulls. Not for fear of them being aggressive. Simply because if they ever were to bite, they have that lock jaw effect. I did however have a pitbull chase me down the street as a little girl. So long that I had to hop onto the roof of some stranger's car in their garage.

Two years ago, I met my boyfriend's Father. When I walked into their very cramped (in my opinion never being in one) trailer home, I observed a husky in a small cage. This dog was fully grown. I asked why doesn't he let him out and he told me that she pee's in the house and she is just too stupid and cannot be trained. Wouldn't you know it? After a half an hour in that place I had her sitting, giving paw, and laying down on command. They were amazed. This poor pee soaked clearly neglected dog just never had a chance to show it's owners what she had to offer. She jumped right on the chance to learn.

My communication with dogs, especially the larger breeds, is my special talent. Or at least I would like to think it is. I have no fear about approaching a stray dog, or protecting a little one against the fear of a barking dog at a fence. I love to work with the ones that people have given up on. They think that old dog's can't learn new tricks. Perhaps those old dogs just do not like their trainers.

My totem will walk with me side by side forever and into the next realm. I don't know why I have this connection. I just do.

What is your totem, if you have one?

A totem is an animal, plant or natural object serving as an emblem of a clan or family, sometimes revered as it's founder, ancestor or guardian. This reflects certain tribes, not an affinity or an animal you have loved for ages.
It's perfectly fine to love an animal, and wish for this to be a part of you based on your spirituality (in all honesty, my favorite animals are dogs and wolves, but they are NOT my totem), but it is by no means your "totem", unless you can establish that it is the emblem of your tribal "clan". **MY...totem, because this is established by my Native (Ojibwa) family, is the Otter (not my first pick, but I don't get to choose). It is our guardian, if not founder (**this information obtained through my elder uncle and mother)
