All Beliefs are Welcome Here!
Snakes have always held facination for, I love to catch them for a moment or two, look into those eys, feel the cool texture and admire the patterns on the skin.
At my dad's place, they have this snake, a gopher snake of some kind, they have this defence or difiance you could say, where they curl up, shake their tail and make a hissing sound that is very like a rattler, one of the boldest snakes I have ever encountered. Their markings are gorgeous, a coppery color, with salmon belly and a dark brown squared pattern down their backs.
So I'm out back of the property working on the daughter do list and I turn around, there is one of these stretched out behind me, just as ballsie as you please, thing had to be more than 2 ft long tip to tail, so I move away, and go back to work, few minutes later there it is again, ok now this is weird, so I causually take some steps away and damn if it don't follow along with me.
I put my work gear down and sat my but on the ground and watched, it came past, paused, actually freaking paused, I reached out my hand and ran a finger along it's back, didn't bother it one bit, and then it snaked it's way along, I watched that snake for more the 20 minutes, as it probed and checked this gopher hole and that one, until it went in a really deep hole, after a few minutes it's tail began to shiver and thrash a bit and it was gone. For a while I could see spots of it in the openings created by it's activity in the gopher hole, but not for long.
I don't know, yet, what this was meant to teach me, but I do know that it was amazing, and that I feel privliged to have witnessed it, and, for me, another example of how the Gods make themsleves known to us, we just have to be able to see it.
