Well, Samhain is just around the corner and like many a witch cant help but feel the excitement in the air. I was at the dog park last night right after work. My sister and I both worked and we were hoping to squeeze in a quick run at the dog park to let the beasts blow some steam. Just after 6 we pulled up with our eager beagle and a hyper vizla and met up with a friend of ours and her black lab. It had been I warm sunny day but darkness was falling quickly. The air was turning chill and the light of the moon was obscurred by cloud. The dogs chased each other and had a few friendly wrestling matches and we were joined by a very playful black lab puppy. Within 10 minutes of being there it became so dark that navigating through the forest trails was nearly impossible. Alas, we left.

Observing the changing season and, more importantly, experiencing it is what this sabbat is all about. Nights are growing darker and colder. The deciduous trees are nearly bare. The chinooks in the creek are a-rot. Some geese remain, but within a few weeks they will be gone for the winter.

I can literally feel the thinness of the veil these days. Absolutely invigorating it feels, and I will definately be celebrating in costume both for our halloween-themed party and a trip to a 'haunted' site in Pickering. My costume this year is a zombie girl and my boyfriend is going to be the green arrow. I am still debating whether to have a feast of the dead with my boyfriend or not. I am hoping to set some time aside to read tarot between Oct 31 - Nov 3.

Hopefully the rest of you have a magickal Samhain or halloween!

Yes! Great time of year for me, I love observing all the changes leading up to winter.

If you don't mind me asking, what sort of food do you usually have at your feast of the dead?

Butternut squash, a nice oven roasted chicken maybe a pumpkin pie. Something from the late autumn harvest so the squashes apples and pumpkins. Have some wine or ale.

My grandfather loved Ontario apples and wild game, so I might cook up the last of the venison in my frezzer.
