Does anyone know of any drugs/supplements besides Galantamine that can be used to help induce sleep paralysis?

Valerian Root tea, you can make it as strong as you like but I always through in 1 Star Anies to ad to the flavor and cover the smell. Or you can just get the Valerian Root Caps or plain Gel Caps and stuff them with the Valerian root your self. Valerian root is not a nice smelling herb but I have a file I was going to post in my Group called "Garden of Healing Herbs". I can let you know when it gets posted so you can look over it. The Group you can fine on the front page of the the site in the Featured Groups areas. It is the largest Herbal Group on the site.

Blessings,

Besides Valerian Root as Tea mentioned, I like using Catnip in a tea or smoking blend, as well as Chamomile.

Interesting that you are inducing a sleep paralysis, most people are frightened of that or simply dont understand it.  My method is to make sure I am falling asleep on my back, this brings a sense of vunerability and allows for a feeling of heavy weight to overcome the body.  Once paralysis overcomes me I cast away all fear and end up going to the next level of dreaming.  Sometimes paralysis happens when I am attempting to wake up (this is where most dreamers start to panic) once again, you have to cast away fear which makes it easier to wake up.

I sleep on my back naturally, and attempted to induce a few times but never quite got there on my own. The closest I've gotten is the feeling of my limbs being weighed down and numb. And other times I'll accidentally fall asleep during the REM cycle.

Im a heavy insomniac and I have found a variety of shamanistic herbs to not only help me sleep, but aid in out of body/ astral realm type experiences(would probably help with sleep paralysis as well.  Kava kava is a hawaiian herb used for relaxation and a dreamlike state (you can also have waking dream like experiences). Blue lotus is an ancient aphrodiesiac(sp) sedative and conciousness expanding aid, and is often represented in eygyptian mythology as the crown chakra  (a blue lotus pedal). Passion flower is also a good sedative. Kratom is a thai leaf that has stimulant and sedative and pain relieving properties, and can have very interesting results when you fall asleep. Banisteris caapi root by itself is a Maoi, and can boost the potencies of shamanistic potions (also vivid visions can come from it). Calea zachetechi is known as the African Dreaming herb and aids in sleep visions.  I have made shamanistic potions of all of these (these are all safe in moderate doses as well) at once, and have had some amazing visions, waking dream states, and reached parts of my own conciousness I never thought possible. All of these are good used individually as well.  I dunno If this helps I have experienced sleep paralysis and it did scare the shit out of me.

I just tried taking 260 mg of Valerian root tonite, and it gave me a mild sedation at first but I thinking its kinda wearing off. I'll update you on how it worked tomorrow. I can relate to your husbands problem. Sometimes I'll be up till 5-6 am and still not even be able to fall asleep.
