Stone Energies

     There are two basic types of energies within stones. These are projective and receptive energies. We contain both projective and receptive energies. One of the goals is to attain a perfect balance of these twin forces. An overabundance of projective energy can cause one to be irritable, aggressive, angry, and overly analytical. Health wise, this imbalance may lead to ulcers, headaches, high blood pressure, heart disease, and other illnesses.

     Too much receptive energy creates moodiness, lethargy, depression, disinterest, and a shutting out of the physical world. Other problems are nightmares, clinging love, lack of employment, depressed immunity, and hypochondria.

     When and if you notice an imbalance in your makeup, carry or wear stones of the opposite type to bring that force back into play.

      The projective stones are those that are bright, outward, aggressive, and electrical. They possess strong, forceful energies that deflect evil, overcome inertia, and create movement. These stones care used in two basic ways--to drive off unwanted negative energies, or to put wanted energies into an object or person. Projective stones contact the conscious mind. They are associated with the elements of Fire and Air.

     Receptive stones are the natural complement of projective stones. They are soothing, calming, inward, and magnetic, promoting meditation, spirituality, wisdom, and mysticism. They create peace. These stones promote communication between the conscious and subconscious minds, allowing psychic awareness to blossom. They radiate energies that attract love, money, healing, ad friendship. Receptive stones are often used for grounding purposes, to stabilize and reaffirm our earth roots. Receptive stones are also used in two basic ways. They can be used to draw something to you, or to absorb unwanted energies and negativity. In the Craft, it is believed that a Witch is the magick, and the gem is a universal support energy to help us obtain our goals. The stone is a catalyst of our intentions.

     To sense a stones vibrations, go with your gut instincts. Hold the stone in your receptive hand; your dominant hand is your projective hand. Holding the stone in your receptive hand, close your eyes and concentrate on how the stone "feels"...if it feels "right" or "wrong" to you, then it is. This is how you chooses the stones and crystals that you will be working with.

     Stones that you may happen to find in nature may also be used. Sharp stones are normally used to push things away, while smooth stones are used to draw things to you.

Empowering Jewelry and Gemstones:  

On the night of a full moon, stand outside in the moonlight, holding items to be empowered in your dominant hand. Repeat the following chant 7x, while visualizing pure, white energy flowing down your arm and into the items, while at the same time pure lunar energy cascades down into items--and into you.

"Formed in Earth and forged in Fire,

Goddess blessing lift me higher.

Guard me from life's evil blows,

Please make sure my safety grows.

Goddess grant me my desire,

Formed in Earth and Forged in Fire"
