Since I am a music lover and a DJ, I have a a wide taste in music when I am providing dance music for events but what gets to me the most would have to be my own love of celtic, accapella and drumming.

Have you ever been a part of or participated in a drumming circle? Were you able to feel the beat and rhythm of the drumming within your body then to find yourself being carried away in your mind to a place that is mysical and or peaceful?

Have you ever found yourself letting go, to feel your body moving along with the beat of the drums.

This is the power of music

Music is a way to let go of frustrations, to transport yourself to a place that is peaceful and comfortable.

Music is an energy all of its own which energizes our souls deep within.

This is what music means to me.

I am a musician, older, but I have played Bach, Chopin, World Folk, Jazz, Chicago Blues, and Rock.   I am in complete agreement with you.  Right now, I'm playing Heavy Blues and Rock.  I play keyboards and sing, and write songs.  It's just such a rush to have people up and dancing and enjoying what you do - I feel 30 years younger.  I live east of Chicago close to Lake Michigan.  When I was young, my band opened for Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, THE Jeff Beck, and I met Pete Townshend and Keith Moon once in Chicago - I came so close a few times to breaking in, but never quite made it.  I lived in Europe for 6 years, and was in England many times.   Keep on doing what you're doing, Bro - and friend me if you want,  - Greg -

I've been in a drumming circle. In fact, I've been in several. At one, which was at the wonderful Folk Life Festival in Seattle (coming up Memorial Day Weekend!) I got so carried away I didn't realize I was actually bruising my hands! Luckily it wasn't too bad, but it did surprise me!

My best memory of how wonderful music is, and how it can release you from worries and stress, is from college. I had a final exam, and I was sure I had flunked. I have NEVER flunked anything in my life. Well, you can imagine how really down I was. But a friend had introduced me to the ragtime music of Scott Joplin about a year before. I had his "Collected Works of Scott Joplin" book, and had been playing rags for a while. (I already had several years of classical training). So, I realized I had to do something to get me out of my depression. I grabbed that book, locked myself in one of the piano practice rooms and played nothing but rags for about an hour. That music is so good at lifting my mood that when I finally came out, I didn't really care whether I'd flunked. (As it happened, I passed—barely, but I did pass!)

awesome blog, i recently started playing my djembe out in the park. such magnifersant feeling being out with it in the open. because its usually just me and it in a  room. its like the music runs through you when you play and u feel every bit of u vibrate with it.

hehe i love music.

I love that feeling of the drumming vibrations just running through you. Interestingly, one of the strongest experiences of that was when we to a performance by a local Taiko group when we were living in San Jose, CA. Taiko drumming really is intended to be outdoors, but this was at a local small theater/concert hall indoors. It was really amazing, because with the acoustics and being indoors, I could literally hold my hand out, palm towards the stage, and feel the air vibrate! My body was vibrating too, especially my chest.
