So I work at a grocery store as a cashier. I get some regular customers that come through my line.
Today it was a lady, whom I don't know by name because I didn't want to sound creepy for asking.
She told me before that she comes for her husband because he can't have salt or potassium because one of his organs are failing, I think it might be his liver or his kidneys.
I asked her "How are you are your husband doing?"
She said, "Good. I've just had to come to pick up a few things with them".
I asked, "Is it getting easier to find foods for him without salt and potassium" ?
She said, "I'm surprised that you remember that, and it kind of is. I keep having to come back here the next day because I'm just so unsure of what to do".
I told her, "I just hate to see someone having a hard time with things. I'm glad it's getting a bit easier for you. Over time you'll have no problem at all. Also try looking online for things he might like, or trying cook books at the library. Those can be really helpful"
"Yeah, he's on a waiting list for a transplant. They can be so long. Did you know that they put old people before children? I think that's so wrong".
"Yes because someone old has already lived their life, but a child hasn't even lived yet".
She said, "I know that it makes odds worse for him but I still think it's wrong. But it has been so hard. I really hope they find one for him soon"
I said, "I really hope they find one, I really do. I know your going through a hard time. I wish you two the warmest blessings, I really do.
"You must be Christian, aren't you?", She smiled.
I just smiled, laughed and said, " No, but we come in all kinds".
"Yeah but I know your a good person anyways".
I smiled and said, "It doesn't matter what religion you are, there's good and bad people in every one.
She smiled back at me and said, "I bet you love animals too, don't you"?
"I really do actually", I laughed.
"Well, anyway, I really appreciate that you remembered about him and I'll always remember to come through your line"
"Your always welcome. Here's your receipt and warmest blessings to you and your husband. I hope everything turns out good for both of you. Just always have faith. It doesn't matter what you believe in, but just have faith."
"Thank you so much. It really means a lot that you care"
"Anytime, you have a good day".
She left with a smile on her face. It really made me feel good to show someone that there really are nice people in all kinds of different places. It doesn't matter what religion you are, what race you are, or what is your sexual orientation is. We come in all kinds.
I pray to Nyx that her husband turns out all right. She said she will come through my line and keep me updated so I am happy for this.
Blessed be everyone. I just thought I'd post this blog because it meant a lot to me. It might not mean much to anyone else but it was an experience I will remember for a long time.
Merry meet, merry part, and merry meet again.
