What to Expect from a Reading

When you contact me for a reading, you may have something in mind to ask. By giving me a sentence or two about your area of concern, I can help you phrase a request that will work well in your reading. I don't read on yes/no type questions, predictions, or requests for direct advice. Here are a few examples of how I might suggest questions of this type are reframed.

Yes/No: "Should I move to France?" could be reframed as "I would like insight into my feelings about a move to France," or "I would like to understand where I really need to be."

Prediction: "What will happen if I go back to school?" might perhaps become "Why am I having doubts about going back to school, " or "What am I really seeking from more education?"

Direct advice: "How can I get 'X' to ask me out?" might be better dealt with from the perspective "I would like to understand my current feelings for 'X' and what I wish to do about them."

Other people just want a general reading. This is fine, and you will be surprised at the things that come up. Having a reading when life is going well shows a wonderful desire to grow rather than be complacent.Some of the most exciting readings I have done have been for people who are currently enjoying their lives, but know that things could still be better. A general reading is also a good way to go when life seems complicated by various questions that may or may not appear related.  Either way I will make sure that we have agreed on an appropriate request before I take payment for your reading.

While suggested price for a reading is $25 - $40 US, I do readings on a Pay-What-You-Can basis. This means that if you feel unable to pay $25, I will accept less (any amount!) no questions asked, and if you wish to pay more than $40, in a spirit of contributing to the greater good, I will accept this, no questions asked. The amount you pay will not affect how I approach your reading, because I think of giving the reading, and you giving me money, as two parallel exchanges, rather than one linear exchange. This is done using PayPal, and you don't need a PayPal account to send your payment. I'll make sure you know what to do.

I will then sit down, center myself, do your reading, and email it to you. I usually draw 3-4 cards, so it's not a burdensome amount of information to take in. The cards will probably describe your current situation, your "destination" and then the journey you will take on the way to that. That "journey" may be through a period of time, but is also likely to be a journey involving peeling off some layers, going deeper in your understanding of things. These readings are not a passive, one-time experience for the client. You will get the most out of it by working with the material in a way that feels appropriate to you, and I am happy to have an ongoing dialogue with you about your reading if you wish.

In the reading, I give you the position of your cards and a short meaning that doesn't change from reading to reading. It's the fixed meaning of the card, if you like. After I list these, I'll go on and expand a bit, and what I say here does vary from sitter to sitter, based on my intuition about the person and their reading as a whole. I generally spend one to two hours doing the reading and writing to you about it.

I suggest that you also center yourself with a few moments of meditation, or whatever works for you, before reading my email. Keep in mind that it is not advice, as such, nor a prediction. Think of it as a way to take a fresh or a deeper look at your situation. Think about your reading in the following days or weeks, when you have some quiet time. We can go back and forth a bit, if you have questions, but taking some quiet time to contemplate the reading is what really gives it the depth.
