You're quite a remarkably interesting writer. Your style reminds me of Hunter S. Thompson. I don't want to read your blog postings all at once, but rather to savor them one at a time so that the feeling of being in LV, in your shoes, remains fresh each time. I hope you've been published, because I think you ought to be.
Thanks for the message, Royal. I think you're quite right about the difference between animals and people. My mom raised German Shepherds and had a pit bull she called Lucy. She always said the same thing you do, and that animals were far more loyal friends than people, most of the time. Her pit bull, Lucy rarely left her side. If someone approached unexpectedly, she would jump up and put her front paws on their shoulders and look them straight in the eye and make a decision about their intent. She pretty much always backed down but occasionally would growl, back down and stand her ground between the person and my mother if she didn't know them. She never did behave that way with children though. I had a big red chow called Mickey. He always met visitors at the door to their car or the house and wouldn't let them near me until I reached out and touched the person. I sure do miss him.
Royal, thank you very much for your offer of friendship. I'm very pleased to be your friend. I love the way you write about your animals. You have a keen sense of humor and a rare understanding of animals.
