Hello David. Read the article you shared in your group on the human brain and blending. It was an interesting read but I have to say I don't agree with a couple of points. lol A question was asked as to why other mammals don't have this capability. I'm rather amazed by how narrow-minded the scientist and interviewer are. I feel I have to conclude they don't have pets... They assume that other mammals and other animals can't "blend". I say that since we don't live in their heads that we don't know. As has been proven by the many pets people have and have had in the past - when you take an animal out of its 'eat or be eaten' existence - you see a whole new animal emerge. When every moment isn't spent just on surviving then it has time to learn more about the world it lives in. And the child watching cartoons vs animals watching cartoons is a very bad example. Of course a kid is going to get something out of it - all of the cartoons are either humans being human or animals acting like humans! But what does it look like to an animal?? Utter nonsense! Our words mean nothing to animals until they've been trained to recognize them. But show a cartoon to an orphan baby elephant of an elephant knocking down a tree when it has never done so and you just might see something different. Dogs understand there are other dogs (and animals) on tv. And many animals recognize themselves in mirrors. So to say animals don't have an ability just because they don't show that ability in a very limited test and without first consulting your pet or your neighbor's pet is pretty lame to me.
