Walked out

Well, I walked out of Willow Park Health Care Center last Friday afternoon. I am currently unemployed! They had promised me a raise effective immediately on the 6th of May. When I picked up my paycheck on Friday, that pay raise wasn't there. When I asked the DON about it, she blew me off. When I said that I wouldn't be coming back, she said "If you quit, that's your problem". I told her that NO, it wasn't my problem, it was her's. I don't need Willow Park, but they DO need me. They are already short too many nurses.
They never have called me about not being there on my scheduled days and I'm not at all worried about it. I haven't felt this relaxed in months. I'm not all that worried about finding another job. I know that I can as a nurse. It pisses me off that I gave up a good job with benefits to stay there, because they said that they would pay me more and put my on the 3-11 shift. But, they also knew that I wouldn't stay there if that raise didn't go into effect either.
I'll be looking for a new job in a day or two and I'll let everyone know what happens!
I have an appointment tomorrow with the counselor at Cameron University for school to start for my RN. Wish me luck!

As bad as they are needing nurses..well I think you made the right decision for you....Im sure you will get a job real quick..many blessings to you and yours...

Take in a few SCA events during your down time!!! i don't know what kingdom you are in, but this is the time of year when there is something going on almost every weekend. Take advantage of it while you can.

Im sorry they didn't give you the raise. True alot of nursing homes, health centers, etc. are short of nurses I know in this area. Im sure you will find a great job that appreciates you. Good luck and many blessings
