LOL. I could laugh at this all day. Theres a reason Neopaganism and Wicca is considered New Age. And I have defenately seen Wiccans embrace change in my day. I have to quote something from Silent Hill 3, which is true:
"There is no religion that has remained unchanged from the
moment it was founded."

Not only is the religion not continious, and unbroken, but its also subject to change. I think thats been proven time and time again. Religion has changed so much that I could easily say that not only is the religion that believes itself to be the oldest in the world, defenatly come to change, but that its realistically and only logical that its a completely seperate religion than before. Not only that, but its inheritly modern despite what fluffballs want to believe. After all, do you honestly believe people of that age even thought the same way we do?

I can tell you that theres lack of evidence, including archeological to support this. We don't even know that much about that period's religion for us to even say that thats the only logical conclusion and this is how "advanced" they were.

We are talking about Asatrú and you then start talking about Wicca? Notice my wording as well: a "European" paleolithic Pagan religion that has continuously been practised and is still practised today? I said practised and made no allusions to it *NOT* having changed. Come on X, you have completely misunderstood what I have said (questioned even, as I wanted clarification on some points before I start given viewpoints etc... Something you might want to consider... *lol*), and start saying stuff that I haven't even mentioned, to boot! You are a real marvel sometimes, X.

Did you ever read that book Wiccan Roots by Heselton? You may want to as it has a great amount of primary research and is an interesting read.

Ok.Topic discussion.How can you be spiritual and not religioius????? This is another confusion for me,but that's just me...HA! No disrespect,just dont get it....so I'll start the topic......

Wayfinder, if you look into Aradia which was a huge influence on Gardner, you'll see more Xtanity in it. You'll also see Satanism.

I agree with most of what you say, like witchcraft. However I do believe Druids were at one time a part of the Celt religion. I'm not sure about Shamanism so I have noting to say.

I don't think you meant this as saying the only real religion to you is Asatru and not all other forms or recon religions are invalid compared to Asatru. At least this is what I assume.

In response to what you wrote please refer to my response to Pavlor.

No I am not saying Asatru is the only real religion ...I stated quiet clearly that it "Could" be construed as a valid and true path.

As for you statement ... I believe that You would not have Satanism if you did not have Christianity ... they're the two opposite faces of the same coin.

In saying this I do not state that either path is invalid.

Good God, what a lovely idea *lol* I believe we have had a HUGE conversation about this somewhere else on this forum (several times, in fact), and Satanism has as much to do with Christianity as I do... *lol*

Okay let me see if I can word this less confusing as I would without coffee!

Personally - Me - I feel it would be a contradiction. To claim such , but I also beleive that I have no more right to tell someone What they want to be categorized as - as the government does.
I do not seperate my spirituality ( I dont use the word religion for personal reasons - My esteemed and somewhat divinely amusing great aunt always said " religion is for those who fear where they go - spirituality is for those that have already been there " ( no offense meant to any just explaining it ). So I am a witch. My spirituality is individual to myself as others' are to them.

And though I would simply nod and make polite noises LOL when someone has that label - Christian Witch - myself I think some of the tenets and practises within each path would contradict each other. And yes I am well aware that it is the representatives of any said religion or path that have the issues with acceptance - it is still usually an organized religion trait. But if it makes someone happy? Well call them what you will - but I have run into many who claim it.
