Have you ever been around someone that could suck the life/happiness out of you?

Yes they are called psychic vamps and they suck pun intended :)

I use to live with someone like that i had to move because i felt sick to be near them because they were so negative and stuck in the poor me syndrome. Those whom are very empathic people really need to protect yourself from people like that because they can drain you bad if you allow them to. Hope that helps some :)

Actually yes I have. It was my ex-husband. I didn't know he was the reason for my illness at the time. I got very sick, and was at risk of having a stroke. Nothing the doctors did could help me. It finally got to the point of us calling it quits. (of course there are other reasons as well) It has been a year now, and I am almost healed. I have been seeking help from an Intuitive Counselor. I carry protective stones, and started keeping my energies for myself. Golden bubble always around negative people. Being and empath you can't help but to feel the other persons negativity. So I now know what I need to do if I come encounter with them.

There are physic vampires everywhere Ashtyn, most of them not even meaning to be as such, just needy people. You would benefit with using a talisman or a mantra for protection. BB

These are psychic vampires and the answer is to shield properly.

It is also hard for empaths as they feel negativity from those who are depressed.

Feel sorry for these types as it is just as bad to be the sucker as the sucked.

I tend to get them out of my life very quickly, by hook or by crook (usually by ignoring any desire to be in contact).

I have never experienced

You start to feel sick. When they look at you, you die inside as if they are stealing away your life bit by bit.

That's a bit dramatic for me. That said, I feel I am aware of so-called psychic vampires and nowadays I don't allow them the pleasure to induldge ;)

Ok, i'm going to jump in here really quick.....say my two cents on it and depart. No, i will not go into depth on any of it. i simply want to say, not all are negative...just because in your view someone has negative energy does mean they are sucking your life force, you do not always need protection. Just as with Sanguine, relationships may be struck between two people.
Again another group of people that are generally viewed as "bad" by the pagan community. Someone should start a thread as to how many paths are viewed as bad and outcast by the pagan community. Might be interesting to see.

I have not experienced an encounter with a person like this but (and I hope this isn't off topic to much) there are some stores that seem to do this. Value Village is stores in Nova Scotia that sells donated clothing mostly and other odds and ends, like a Salvation Army store. Soon as I walk inside I start to get drained. There is a particular smell to the place (to me, at least) and my mood will really drop and it takes a while to climb back to normal. I was always a walled up refuse all emotion type person for years so perhaps my unconscious guarded me if I had been around a person with that effect. I'm opening up more these days so now perhaps its hitting me more.

I know it sounded a bit dramatic. "When they look at you, you die inside as if they are stealing away your life bit by bit." . That is the only way I knew how to describe it. Not like dying inside I guess but like they are strangling your spirit. That would of been a better way to put it. I always thought psychic vampires stole slowly. The one I know who does this-it's instantaneous. Just a couple of minutes with him-not long amounts of time (I usually leave very quickly when this person comes around).

I enjoy it when people try to bring me down or suck, for lack of a better word, my energy out. It is damn near impossible to do that to me at this point in my life. I grin and banish the energies. They never return.

Yes! I Have... and actually is was someone that worked at the same place I did. I would get the worse vibes ever.She would go into the break room when I was there.. And I started feeling really bad.. drained and all. Or she would walk by me at work. I would really get angry to for letting it get to me. Until I figured out how to get rid of these bad feelings whenever she was around, for instance she would walk pass me.. always saying hello. I would take a deep breath and blow as hard as I could.. like you are blowing to the wind! and I would repeat twice Go Away! And it worked! But now I have a better paying job and dont see her at all. LOL
