The Gospel that has risen the greatest challenge to the Vatican - Christian Gospel or Pagan Gospel?

As it seems to be a lot of controversy about the whole "Christian vs. Pagan", "Christian Witch", "Christians and Satanists" etc lately on this board, I propose a subject that is quite related.

In 1923, Edmund Bordeaux Szekely, while studying the archives of the Vatican, has discovered some original Aramaic texts that he started to translate. They were published as the series "Essene Gospels of Peace".

He claimed that those ancient texts were the original Gospel of Jesus himself. The Vatican denied the mere existence of those texts. There were many who have jumped to the task of demonstrating what a big fraud Szekely was.

This is the text of the Essene Gospel. Read carefully. Then I would really like to know what you think.

It just seems really strange to me that on a website devoted to paganism in general a significant minority of the conversations revolve around Christian beliefs. It reminds me of that little pagan clubhouse I went to in Dallas where the subject of Baptists seemed to surface an awful lot.

I think you have a rather myopic view of Christianity as it relates to history. Quite frankly I don't think modern Paganism will survive as a religion -at least not a large scale religion- unless it becomes a more organized religion.

The intention I had in putting this up was not to call for the "destruction" of anything. It was for trying to make people understand that if you go to the heart of it, ALL religions practically the same, and the core of the Christian tenets may actually lie somewhere else, not where the people have put and twisted them.

The writing I've put up for discussion is the "Essene Gospel of PEACE".

All religions are self-serving in that they serve the interest of those who practice it. It doesn't matter whether it's Abrahamic, old tyme pagan, modern Pagan, or whatever.

This way of life is a threat to organised politics, to organised capitalists and therefore a threat to the Christian Church.

Quite frankly that way of life is not a threat to anybody. Not a real threat at any rate. It's only a threat to those who think Harry Potter or Buffy the Vampire Slayer will corrupt the youth and turn them into devil worshipers. Quite frankly Pagans do not possess the unity of purpose that organized religion provides and a lot of people don't take them seriously on account of beliefs in astral traveling, past lives, etc. It's just so far outside the mainstream that few people take Pagans seriously.

Yes, it would be the Christian Church and all its denominations that coudn't handle the truth...and a lot of money wouldn't be given to the Church as well..., for fear of losing their "power" over the people, that is why the truth isn't told in my opinion.

There are many schools of thought about Jesus as a man; and as the son of God.

1. Do you believe that Jesus is the son of God? If so, do you believe the story that Jesus is the human form of God? or that Jesus is the actual son of God; much like Adam was created?

2. If Jesus has a direct link to God; even if only by consciousness/awareness - shouldn't he understand the role of Satan; as well as Satan as an abstract idea?

3. If what we know is true; that Satan is born in the pages of the bible - how can this document be real and authentic?

I remain skeptical of a single self aware universe. If this whole belief system, and its stories is based on this concept - why? Based on what? Words? People influencing people? How is it any different than any other 'belief'?

In order to authenticate it, you would need empirical evidence to support that these men existed, and that these stories are about real events. If they believed it; there must have been a reason behind their faith. A chain of events; especially one that would make a following easy, people always need hope. Until then you have theologies based on speculation, understanding, and interpretation.

I admit, some of these stories are fantastic and epic; that's the attraction. Like little kids looking up to super hereo's these beliefs are based in the same interest.; ▶ Reply to This
