It is gross, and even more gross that people allowed this to happen in the first place. This isn't the first time its been covered.

Recently, I've been vending at a local flea market. I'm completely disgusted with the amount of litter in the parking lot. I'm told they have to have a street sweeper come in every Monday, because of the amount of trash people leave over the weekend. How frickin' hard is it to put your trash in the trash cans (which are every 6 feet by the way)???? I'm there all day, I place my trash in a bag and then put it in the trash can at the end of the day. Are people content to live in filth? Bottom line is, they just don't care. It's epidemic, nationwide. I grew up in Boston, that place is dirty and smelly. Youth groups would try to clean up the city, they would just give up over the frustration of running around in circles. No sooner than they would clean up, people would trash it.

Ya know, when I see someone just throw trash on the ground like that, and not care, I pretty much feel like, that is probably how they live at home as well. Dirty and nasty. And I truly don't understand this. How people can live that way. These generations are getting worse, the mentalty of people now, just don't care. Didn't seem like it was that way when I was younger. Society needs to wake up for sure.

Why do people buy plastic in the first place? I try and make a point of not buying plastic if I can, such as plastic bags and stuff. If there's a biodegradable option, I take it, and if there's only a plastic option, I try to figure a way round it. Sometimes, though, you just can't, but it *DOES* help to be very aware of it.

I hear ya, you just can't get around plastic, when it comes to trash. It seems to be the only thing that will hold your trash - so its a paradox of trash.

We have biodegradable bags for trash as well!

I know, but the problem there is - they are so damn hard to find. Most of the big chain grocery stores don't even carry them. Just like FAIR TRADE goods, you have to ask them to stock them.

There's even controversy regarding Fair Trade as well... We can't win, can we?

What would we get if we did? :-P

We'd probably be living like Ecovillagers! =)

At least most stores around here are offering reusable canvas (etc.) bags instead of those plastic ones. We have a stash of them in every vehicle, in case we stop at the grocery store.

Yeah I carry a few in my bag wherever I go, along with biodegradable poop bags (in every pocket as well...).

Isn't that something?
