Learning to find a higher power

i have been having a very hard time accepting the concept of a higher power being in charge of me. intellectually, i know it exists. i feel it when i walk out of my house, and glance at the trees near the lake across the street from my home. in the morning they look misty, like a painting. not quite real looking. the trees are also reflected in the water. the site always makes me pause for a moment. can't really say what goes on in my head at this time. but the word grateful tends to pop in my mind. I have been told by someone in my AA group, that my higher power is showing herself to me. By allowing me to see and feel her beauty. i need not seek and stress looking for it. She is with me already. just have to figure out how else she is with me. i may not be "consciously" aware of her yet. but the seeds are sown

Permalink Reply by Dragonwyke on May 11, 2008 at 9:28am: no one is "in charge of you" except you. your higher power walks with you because you want her to not because she demands your attendance, because you invite her to. if you give up "charge" of yourself you give away personal responsibility for your decisions, actions, ideas, feelings, and freedoms. is that something you are truly willing to do? by your profile i see you are wicca, freedom to choose and personal responsibility are basic to wicca. do not give these away. love your goddess, in every way possible, love also yourself and all that has been given you in this life as you pass thru it, for having "charge" of yourself is itself a gift of the goddess. you need never learn to pass responsibility for your life or it's charge to her.; ▶ Reply to This
