OT: Dog in need of help
Sorry for the off topic (OT) posting...
I know this is not an animal rescue site however I am spreading the word about a 10 yr old Plott Hound named Chloe who needs to find a home. I do have pics of her which I will put into my photo album. This girl is in Georgia however I am not quite sure where in GA.
Below you will find the latest correspondence between GHS Volunteer and Ms. Julia Fabb. PLEASE do not contact GHS volunteer Herriet Thomas.

Subject: dog surrender
I would like to surrender a dog. She is a pure breed Plott Hound. She is an overweight Plott Hound weighing in at about 80lbs. She is roughly 10years old, has been neutered and had vaccinations within the past year. PAWS Atlanta and Life Line Animal Project cannot or will not take her.
Why, you may be asking yourself, do I want to surrender this dog? Plainly speaking, I do not like her anymore. I've had her for years and have tolerated her for about the past 2 to 3 years. When I spoke w/ PAWS I shared with them that if a no-kill shelter is unable to take this dog I will most likely have her put to sleep myself rather than subjecting her to a life in a cage or homelessness.
I look forward to your reply and thank you for your time.
Julia

Ms. Thomas,
I did not know then (when I got Chloe years ago) what I know now. I have another dog who behaves, is trained and I can handle (for the most part). Chloe (the name I gave to the Plott Hound) never recieved any training b/c I didn't know how or its importance.
When I get her food she gets so excited. I am able to get her to sit and wait but only for seconds at a time. The other dog sits in his kennel and waits. She (Plott Hound) is in my face and drooling. She is overweight, again due to my ignorance. I use to leave food out for her at all times. She is overweight. Now I feed her 1 cup twice/day. I tried, per a trainer's recommendation, to feed her green beans with her food. She preferred the french cut to the regular -which she would eat around and leave in the bowl.
I've gotten to the point where I don't even want to try with her anymore. She did ruin my carpet. When I moved in there was no doggie door and she tinkled on the carpet. Shortly after I moved in a doggie door was installed so she has complete freedom to go out into the fenced backyard. However, since she left her mark, she has returned to it. She hasn't tinkled inside the house for about 8 months. I caught her tinkling inside (about 8 months ago) and let her know it was not ok. Until then I had never caught her. I'd just walk through the house and get a wet sock. That she ruined the carpet and her seeming untrainability are what have made me dislike her so.
I've contacted no-kill shelters but due to her age and health they will not take her. I've been told that it would be more humane to have her put down myself than to take her out in the country or woods and drop her off or drop her off at say, the Humane Society. Sadly, this is what I'm looking at and it's been very hard to get to that decision.
I apologize for the delay in responding to you. I took pictures of her and cannot seem to upload them. I'm still working on it.
I do not lie very well and you now have my side of the story on Chloe and I look forward to your reply whatever it may be.
Thank you for considering this,
Julia

If I were to consider taking her in to retire in my home, I would need to know any issues that she has. You say you do not like her anymore and have tolerated her for the past two - three years. Why do you not like her?
